This is just drenched in flavor and aroma. Holy cow. Smokey. Delicious. Has everything you want in an imperial stout including a small size bottle. If this comes your way, enjoy! Grovlam (4252) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - NOV 18, 2008
25 cl bottle. Thanks to my brother for sharing. Huge thick fin bubbled brown lasting head. Good display of lacework. This was as black as the night. Heavy complex aroma of berries, whisky, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, alcohol, wood, mild floral, candies. Quite sweet over the palate with some liquorish and again strong berries notes as the base. Full bodied with a surprisingly lively carbonation and thick dry alcoholic texture. Heavy sweet flavor with good counter bitterness. Lingering warming liquorish, chocolate and berries finish. Lovely...... no actually this was excellent!!! caesar (7165) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - NOV 23, 2009
Bottled. Dark opaque color, medium fluorescent brown head. Aroma of dark chocolat, coffee, dried fruit, lovely slight sweet whisky, hint of candy. Dark roasted malty taste, thick. Lovely stuff. BlackSwan (24) - Frisco (Dallas), USA - MAY 10, 2011
Pours a muddy black colored body with a spare creamy brown head. Aroma is rich with chocolate, cookie, bread, nuts, and brown sugar. The mouthfeel is full in body and high in warmth. Has a slight lactic and burnt flavor accompanied by chocolate, whiskey, nutmeg, prunes and a hint of brown sugar. This beer was strong, high in alcohol. Very good. [Trade by fonefan] Pours pitch black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, oak and whisky. Taste is heavy sweet and meidum bitter with a long woody, coffee, chocolate finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat.
Fluffy, fully-dark clouded head over night-black beer (original, original wording, JPP!) Ink, and very very dark berries and other plumlike fruit - dried and preserved in whisky or rum. Black chocolate if ever tasted, with an enormous load of alcohol, in a nice, whisky-like way with a strange, but perfectly balanced fresh vanilla-like sweetness. Near solid oil. And yet a great balance. A winner, if ever MIkkeller brewed one. gkost (1069) - Alaska, USA - AUG 15, 2009
Bottle courtesy of IBrew2or3. Pours black with a brown head. Nose is whiskey, oak, toffee, mollasses, roasted malt, dark fruits, fig, prune and some smoke. Heavy oak flavor, tons of booze!, dark ripe fruits, pungent figs, burnt grains, coffee, dark cocoa. WOW!!! skortila (5905) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - NOV 20, 2009
Bottled. Tnx, thewolf for reserving this one for me at Olbutikken. The aroma is wonderfull. It has chocolate, roast, wood, vanilla, some whiskey and fruity port-like notes. Quite creamy. Black coloured beer with a frothy (!) fluorescent dark brown head. Great looks. The taste is roasted, has chocolate some coffee, overripe fruits and some whisky and wood. The whisky is well balanced in this one and there is no massive peat. Full bodied beer and quite some carbonation for this style. I really enjoyed this beer. nickd717 (4706) - San Francisco, California, USA - APR 12, 2010
Little bottle shared by Nick3 on BA.
Pours pretty damn black with a small brown head and good lacing. The head on this one really is dark.
Aroma is awesome - smells like burning! Roast, chocolate, and coffee. Not much whisky here.
A little more whisky on the flavor. Roasted malt, ash/charcoal, dark chocolate, and serious coffee. Amazing flavor, so intense.
Full-bodied and rough on the palate with drying roasty ashiness. Major alcohol warmth.
Like the Sherry Black as Hell, this was awesome overall. Huge thanks to Nick for sharing this rarity. Beer5000 (6545) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - APR 24, 2010
250 ml bottle. Black body with a fine, dense beige head. A nice roasted malt aroma, coffee, a hint of liquorices and mild peated whisky. Flavor is sweet, dark malt, roast, chocolate, coffee, hops and whisky with peat and salt. Very long and smooth finish. A masterpiece.
