375 ml green Bottle thanks to Sune poured a nearly opaque dark brown bordering on black with a lingering ring of brown foam. Aromas of Calvados, oak, bitter chocolate, burnt carmel, roasted malt, licorice, light coffee and a hint of vanilla. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth with a warming finish. Flavors of calvados, oak, bitter chocolate, roasted malt, licorice, burnt carmel, light coffee and a hint of vanilla with a smooth warming lingering fruity chocolatey finish. A very complex and tasty brew! The Danes sure know how to brew BIG Beers! Gr0ve (2176) - Oslo, NORWAY - AUG 17, 2009
375 ml bottle. Label says 14.9% abv. Pitch black. Seems clear. Small beige head initially but it disappears after a while. Hints of burnt caramel, then a little tar. Cigarette stubs, but soaked in caramel sauce. Feels very sweet initially, then comes an attack from roasted malts, but that is held up by the sweet caramel malt. More of the cigarette ash shows up after a while. This beer is very complex. Layers upon layers of intense flavours. Wonderful stuff. Calvados flavours get more noticeable towards the finish. Fantastic complexity. Bottle reeks of naphthalene. Sigmund (7766) - Tau, NORWAY - JUL 17, 2009
375 ml bottle, kindly shared by Ole R. ABV was 14%. Pitch black colour, low brown head. Lovely roasty and vinous aroma, notes of calvados and blackcurrants. Extremely sweet and very roasty flavour, notes of liquorice, dark cherries and dark chocolate, distinct hoppy bitterness and tar in the finish. Alcohol is noticeable. Combined with the strong flavour elements, this leaves the impression that the beer is even stronger than it actually is - I might have guessed 18-20%.

Aroma is oaky, salty, spicy with notes of dark chocolate, liqourice, alcohol and sweet berries. Mouthfeel is extremely smooth, silky yet silghtly sticky and thick, lovely "feel", nice "look". Flavour is extremely sweet and thick of brown sugar, burnt wood, sweet oak, light chocolate, liqourice and raisins. Finishes with a long warming sensation, salty wood balancing up a heavy berry sweetness. madsberg (11774) - Søborg, DENMARK - JUL 5, 2009
Bottled. Pitch black coloured. Small quicly diminshing brown dense head. Roast, prunes, chocolate, light alcohol is what I get out of the aroma. Flavour is full of liqourice, vanilla, brown sugar, chocolate, roast, light spice and light wood. Calvados is definately notable. Medium to full bodied. Roasty and liqourice dence bitter end. Is quite sweet and alcoholwarming on the palate. Nice one. Madsnp (933) - DENMARK - JUL 1, 2009
Bottle. Pitch black with no head. Wow! The aroma almost explodes in the glass with notes of maple syrup, roasted malt, dried fruit, vanilla, caramel, coffee, alcohol and chocolate. Very oily and sticky texture. Flavour is a little to sweet for me. Notes of liqueur, sweet malt, dark fruit, raisins, warming alcohol and vanilla. This one is truly a sipper!
