This works really well. The aroma is boozy and slightly roasted with the oak and calvados shining through. The flaovur is thick and malty with loads of wood, roasted notes and calvados. It’s quite fruity and heavy and just really good!

Copenhagen. Opaque black - brown beer, Softish palate, modest carbonation. Rich and very warming stout. Sweet dark malts wrapped in spicy apple. Dry and frothy finish. Little savoury. Strong and strong tasting.
37.5 cl bottle @ home (since I didn’t go to the opening in Århus today, I’m celebrating with this one instead). Pours black with a tiny tan head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma and flavour are roasted malt, chocolate, dark sugar, dark fruits, liquorice, and calvados - with a roasted finish. ABV is pretty well hidden. rouhlas (3978) - Thessaloniki, GREECE - AUG 2, 2015

38cl, as Mikkeler Special Series ’Calvados Barrel Aged X Imperial Stout’, retired exclusive Danish brew, thx alot to Philip for bringing over this old rarity!, very complex sweet Stout, roasted/alcoholic and slightly fruity/woody, yet not too heavy, balanced, cloudy, nearly no head, very good brew, yet very expensive!, WOW!, ’Happy to see that this masterpiece from Mikkeller aged very well.’

Bottle thanks to somebody, rating from my backlog. The smell is malts, roast, coffee, chocolate, wood, alcohol, and fruits. The look is dark black with really no head. The taste is sweet, charcoal, smoke, alcohol, and wood. Smooth and easy. Great! Leighton (22769) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 23, 2013
Tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2013 - Session II. Pours dark brown with a frothy brown head. Sugary chocolate aroma, some dark fruits, hints of torched wood. Hugely sweet flavor with more burnt wood, dark sugars, molasses, raisins. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with dark fruit sugars, charred wood, brown sugar, some sweet chocolates. Another super sweet offering from the Mikkeller X range. jkwalking05 (4745) - Arlington, Texas, USA - JUL 9, 2013

Tap @ CBC 2013. The pour’s black with no head. The nose is charred wood. Hints of mint, menthol. Bitter chocolate. Roasted berries. The taste is sweet roasted apple, liqueur-soaked wood. Sweet, thick and hot. Ashy finish. Thick, decadent stuff. A bit sweet, though not nearly as bad as the 2006 in that regard.
