Cocoa, wood, some cognac, huge notes of spices, dark brown with a thin tan head, medium body, average carbonation, taste is similar, very strong notes of spices and roots...a bit strange but not bad. Korcz (3389) - Warsaw, POLAND - APR 20, 2017

Bottle. Sensoric. Pitch black with medium to big, light brown head. Nice head retention and lacing. Mostly roasted malts aromas - coffee, oaky, licorice, lightly spicey quite noticable cognac notes. Taste is dry and near to medium bitter. Medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation, finish is dry and slighlty bitter. In overall nice porter, nice x-mas beer with noticable cognac BA notes. drpimento (3726) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 27, 2015
It’s good, but not great for me. Some of the qualities seem to clash. Aroma is raisins, molasses, brandy, roast, yeast. Flavor’s like nose, plus bittersweet and tang up front, then a heavy bitter in back with sweet in front. Finish is bitter fruit pits. Not my fav Mikkeller.

Bottle shared during Scopey’s 5K tasting - Croydon, London. Another one courtesy of Mr. Mitch. Pours oily black-brown with a sturdy, frothy beige head. Tangy burnt wood in the nose, dark berries. Medium sweet flavor with lots of earthy bitterness, bittersweet chocolate, burnt wood. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish with some bitter burnt grass, ashy roast, wood, earth. OK, just a bit rough at the edges. wekker84 (2389) - etten-leur, NETHERLANDS - AUG 15, 2015

Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, roasted, mint - coconut, spicy, sharp. Body is medium, texture is oily - creamy, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic.
(Draught at Kontynuacja, sample) Black untransparent colour, brown stable head. Full body, oily texture, low carbonation. Aroma: Strong and complex but not tiring, roasty, a bit tart and sour, cognack, dark chocolate, cognac, oak, pinch of basament. Taste: Very intensive, dark chocolate, oak, medium to strong roastiness, light roasty and woody tartness, long chocolate finish. Great beer.
