Pours black. Aroma is roasted coffee, smoke, chocolate. Taste is very nice chocolate cocoa and oak smoke and nice roasty flavors not getting much spice as advertised on the bottle none the its not needed because this is a great beer

Big roasty well balanced beer. Really enjoyed it. Very easy drinking for the abv. Chocolate, roasty, oakiness, lots going on and really tasty. Moderate finish.

omegamike (152) - York, North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - DEC 25, 2012
Pours thick and black with a fluffy brown head. Aroma is dusty ginger and roasted malt. Flavor is rich chocolate, ginger, roasted dry finish with a lingering bitter finish. A lovely beer indeed.

Pinball (12310) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - DEC 24, 2012
Bottle. Pitch dark huge smooth brown head. Aroma is very hoppy, malty dry, herbal. Flavor is complex, hoppy herbal. Christmas spices reminds me of a spiced black ipa. End is very bitter, slightly peppery

dantheman278 (1365) - SCOTLAND - DEC 24, 2012
Bottle at home. Jet black pour, thick thick bubbly beige head. Massive star anise on the nose - very pungent. Lots of bitter hop resin, huge liquorice too, and plenty of bitter chocolate. Massive liquorice hit at first, again lots of anise too, before the dark chocolate takes over. Loads of bitter coffee too. Ashy bitter roast finish, possibly a little too bitter for me. Lacks in body a little - with just a bit more ABV and sweetness, it could be stunning. Still though, complex and tasty.

maley1 (1301) - Calgary, CANADA - DEC 23, 2012
Dark brown, almost black pour with medium sized tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, hint of coffee and chocolate. Taste of unsweetened chocolate, burnt malts and hint of coffee. Surprisingly thin mouthfeel and bitter finish.

tcane7 (1674) - Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 23, 2012
Poured nearly black with thick, fluffy, mocha head and very thick lacing. Smells like it is twice the strength it actually is. Very boozy. Taste is mild chocolate, raisin, booze.

BartC (727) - Lichtaart, BELGIUM - DEC 23, 2012
Black colored beer with a beige head. Aroma of chocolade and coffee. Very hoppy flavor with anise and pure chocolate. Hopbitter aftertaste. A great beer!

Ferris (16489) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 22, 2012
Draft - Liquorice roasted malts, coffee and chocolate bitterness. I even get a bit of dark fruit, maybe even some cherry. Jet black with a brown thin head. Sweet bitterness throughout. Liquorice and dark chocolate dominate with a bit of alcohol in the finish. Nice but definitely a short glass is all that is required.

rosenbergh (11793) - Tampere, FINLAND - DEC 22, 2012
Draught at the Konttori, Tampere, Finland. Black colour with small tan head. Gingerbread, xmassy spices, roasted malt, some balacing hops and liquorice in aroma. Very roasted malt, ashy bitterness, bitterish hops and mild liquorice dryness in flavour. Very dry and roasty flavour. Some sweetness could balance this a bit. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
