Bottle at a recent tasting... Poured dark black with a brown head. Realy nice barrel characters on this one. Not overly roast too which allowed the sweetness and bourbon to shine. Hints of molasses, anise, dark malt sweetness and bourbon whiskey.

From a bottle at home in Skövde. Black beer with a beige head. Smokey and a bit oakbarrel and some vanilla. Tastes dill(?), old dark coffee and some chocolate. I didn´t like this at all, sorry...

phaleslu (10546) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 23, 2012
375 ml bottle from Wine and Cheese Place. Pours a deep, dark, opaque brown color with a finger of dark tan head that lasts and laces. Aroma of chocolate, bourbon, plums, black cherries, vanilla, caramel, peat, and oak. Flavor of coffee, bitter dark chocolate, roasted malts, charred oak, peat, bourbon, winter spices, and caramel. Medium-bodied, with a super rich, roasty mouthfeel with some bitterness and medium carbonation. Very roasty; bourbon leads the nose but takes a backseat to the malts in the flavor.

gEUS (1637) - Linden, BELGIUM - JAN 23, 2012
37.5 cl bottle. Pours pitch black with thick hazelnut head. Aroma is warm notes of wood, chocolate, caramel comvined with a surprising freshness (the bourbon effect?) and even soemthing medicinal/eucalyptus. Flavours of roast and soy sauce in the finish. Quite fresh and crisp for a porter.
