Aroma had a roasty note that was matched well with the malt and chocolate and a hint of bourbon. Taste is chocolate and some licorice, this was a perfect beer for chistmas eve ;-) KennethArd (551) - Odense, DENMARK - JUN 13, 2012

Dark brown with healthy tan head. Aroma of bourbon, oak, apple, and loads of vanilla. Very complex flavor. First,we’ve got a heavy bourbon infused smooth, malty porter followed by vanilla bean.Finishes with a layer of espresso and a subtle hopiness. So rich I need a glass of water halfway through. MIkkel is a genius. badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - AUG 25, 2012
Bottle from Beer Revolution. Black with a thin creamy tan head. Earthy and musty chocolate coffee roasted cereal grain and whiskey aroma. I know it says bourbon but peaty scotch flavors dominate with light smoke and a nice oaky woodiness with chocolate and coffee flavors playing nicely throughout with an earthy peaty ashy roasted malt finish with just a hint of tobacco. Very good silky bright palate. Excellent brew with a nice complexity. It would pair well with a cigar in my opinion. gunnfryd (14815) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - MAY 18, 2012

Pours turbid dark black with minimal head. Nose is big oaky bourbon, some spice, hops, roasty malt, plum. Tastes rich, with roasty malt, oak and bourbon up front, some plum, cherry, and spice at mid-palate, and as it warms it gets port winey, with subtle and effective oak. Nicely made, as usual with these guys. egajdzis (6501) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 26, 2012
Opaque black color with a tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of char, roast, bourbon, vanilla, wood, smoke, and light alcohol. Taste of roast, smoke, dark fruits, vanilla, wood, and bourbony alcohol in the finish. Seemed to be from a barrel that held a wheated bourbon. ngeunit1 (1555) - Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 5, 2013

UPDATED: MAR 19, 2014 Finding this aged bottle in March 2014 at Eulogy. Opaque pour with an impressive khaki head. A tremendous full ashy stout that feels ridiculously smooth. Cigarette burnt leather jacket. Perfected espresso. Bourbon notes in the nose. Burnt vanilla toast. Plum pudding. Chocolate mousse. Truffles. Dark cinnamon. Charcoal grill. Highly carbonated fizzy body. Extraordinary. Great stuff! jesperhammer (4726) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - NOV 4, 2011

Black with low brown head.
Roasted, almost burned nose with lovely bourbon lingering.
Taste is again roast and bourbon, mostly bourbon. I really love bourbon, but where did the "Fra Via Til" go? Bourbon clouds the original brew. But what the ... I love bourbon.
