Black hue under a thick lingering light tan head with great lace. Delightful nose of bittersweet dark chocolate with a nice subtle earthy roasted black makt tone and super soft orange undertones. Big bold flavor that’s roasty and dark malted with some bitter dark chocolate, with a robust and lingering black malt body and cocoa finish. Orange is nowhere. And I’m okay with that.

Black poor with slowly settling brown foam head. Taste is overwhelming bitter chocolate with coffee and roast tones. Great. (Velp 201712)

Pours black with medium beige head. Aroma is sourish, smoked, coffee, fruits, some caramel, sharp, roast, sweetness. Taste is fruity, roast, fresh, coffee, dark bread, oats, some caramel. Very nice beer!

oobawa (1859) - Tennessee, USA - OCT 5, 2017
Solid porter, bitter and roasty, heavy with unsweetened chocolate and espresso notes, the orange zest providing a too-strong java-like acidity to the profile. Starts almost stout-like, full of black coffee and anise, then quickly gains a fruity undertone that mixes oranges with subtle cherry and raisin undertones. Finishes dry and citric; not a huge fan of the effects of the zest, but the base porter's pretty damn delicious. Pours a beautiful black with a massive beige head and tons of lace. Chocolate and roasted malts dominate the nose. Super-smooth feel makes the pint disappear way too quickly. Nice beer, but would've been world-class without the adjunct.

Almost black beer with brown head. Aroma is alcohol, roasted malt. Taste is mix of roasted bread, orange and hops, also cocoa. Aftertaste is a bit sour orange and bitterness of roasted malt. Pretty heavily roasted beer, strong feelings in the mouth, alcohol too is all there. The beer full of tastes. Very interesting brew. Very good porter.

Tjära, syrlig espresso, choklad och soya finns också. Alla dofter går igen i smaken som först känns lite bränd men det avtar efterhand.

33 cl. bottle bb 04/07/2019. Deep ebony pour with a spongy disc of foam. Aroma is orange, molasses and a touch of chocolate. Flavors of molasses, white pepper, dark chocolate, dried grass and orange. Medium-plus bodied with medium carbonation and a nice balance. Good but the zest dampens the smoky char in the excellent base brew too much for my tastes.

Bottle from K&L in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is dark chocolate with candied orange peels. Taste is orange oil, orange bitters, cocoa. Appearance and mouthfeel here are incredible, very much black oil with an orange halo glow...but the flavors are not as deep as I’d hoped for.
