UPDATED: SEP 2, 2010 Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Brown with a small white head. Burnt dough aroma. Delightful sweet, dark, bready malty taste with a faint ashiness. Bit like a date loaf. Lingering bitterness made this a cracker. 2.9.10. Same location Not quite so impressive this time. Toast and straw aroma. Sourness and background malt in the taste. A dark copper red beer with a thick, light brown coloured head. The nose is rich, toasted malt, liquorice, caramel, coffee and dark chocolate. The taste is bittersweet, malty, again liquorice, burnt sugar, a strong coffee element along with a bitter, dark chocolate like flavour. Followed by a lingering, sweet finish. Cask at the Pembury Tavern, on Friday 5th June 2009. Reddish-brown, crystal clear with an initially fizzy off-white head. Biscuit aroma with some notes of floral hop and clove spice. Slight nuttiness in the kick in which the aforesaid biscuit and clove notes are brought to the tongue; slightly creamy - yet easy drinking mouthfeel. I found the beer to be very pleasant and flavoursome, and with red ales not tending to be my favourites, I was impressed. niquillis (2752) - Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - SEP 15, 2011
On cask at The Congress, Longton. Pours ruby red with a white head. Chocolate stout style lightened by good hoppiness, excellent. DanielBrown (4535) - Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, ENGLAND - SEP 29, 2005
Gravity at Birmingham Beer Fest. Nice colouring and an attractive smell. A good Red ale to start the evening. Nice and smooth ruby flavours, with a sweetish finish. A good example of a style I can usually take or leave.

Light brown appearance with a light and malty aroma and a mild and malty flavour. Overall a plain, malty and slightly dry beer.
