Old Bull Ringer 7.4% abv. A Barley Wine made from the finest organic Malt and English Fuggles Hops brewed to celebrate the brewery gaining organic status. The beer has been residing in Oak whisky casks for two months on a bed of more organic hops. The beer has a smooth taste considering its strength, with sweetness balanced with earthy hops and a slight spirit tang. Old Bull Ringer will only be brewed once a year in small batches. ‘Ring the Bull’ is a game that can be played at the White Horse Inn.

Bottle soit at Craft Beer co. Thanks to Leighton for this one. Fruity yeast esters, some hot alcohol, caramel, toffee. Copper colour, persistent off white head. Flavour is grainy, honey, toffee apple. Medium carb. Not my favourite barley wine.

And another shout to Leighton for raiding his ’you’ve tried the best ... now try the rest’ Barley Wine collection, CBC, 22/10/13. Lightly hazed dark amber with a moderate off white covering. Nose is bitter fruit, dark toffee, smoke, booze, light acidic thing going down. Taste comprises cake mix, tarte fruit, sharp bitter fruits. Medium bodied with bite, moderate carbonation, boozey finale. 1D and no nice grandma picture on the label!

Bottle thanks to Leighton. It pours clear deep amber with a medium white head. The nose is woody, varnish, orange sherbet, leather and hay. The taste is oily orange, apricot, sherbet, wood, earth, caramel and tangy green apple with a dry, lightly tart finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. I kind of like it...

Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell - London. This bottle I picked up almost three years ago I reckon. Then I stored it in my closet or under the bed, so it was definitely ready. Pours clear amber with a frothy, white head. Some tangy, aged fruits on the nose. Light sweet flavor with further tangy fruits, faint wood, berries, tart apple. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Tangy, ripened fruits to finish. Not bad.
