Sampled summer ’12, at the Ottawa brewpub: Arrived with a nice off-white foamy head. Dark brown in appearance. Some lacing. Has coffee and chocolate aromas. The flavours are pretty much the same, adding a bit of mild spices to the mix. Pretty heavy for a summer seasonal, but refreshing nonetheless. On tap @ Mill Street Ottawa. Pours a light clear brown/red with a moderate off white head. Aromas are nutty malts and light bubblegum/fruit esters. Tastes are dominated by the sweet fruit esters but there is a subtle nutty dry bitterness on the back end. Creamy mouthfeel, light bitter bite on the back end, moderate carbonation. Not what I would expect from a brown but not bad.

Really not much of a brown ale. Pours dark amber with ok head and lacing. Some barley in flavour, not much else. Finishes with light bitterness. Average carbonation. Tap at brewpub in Ottawa. probstblueribbon (3791) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 6, 2012
Half pint at the Loon. Clear copper with no head. Seems a bit light in colour for a brown ale. Sweet honey, berry-like fruitiness, a little brown sugar and a bit of toffee, a touch vinous, really fruity. Medium body, fairly aggressive effervescence. Quite fruity, strawberries, some nice toffee and light brown sugar notes, a little dark dried fruit, light Dubbel character, a touch roasty; basically dry with a little bitterness and a pleasant fruity, toast crust finish. Seems to miss for style, but is likeable. Closer to a Red Ale. Lubiere (13905) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 1, 2012
A clear copper amber ale with a vary thin off white head. In aroma, a grainy nutty malt with light mineral notes, caramel and faint fruity esters. In mouth, a nutty and fruit dark malt with grassy German hops, light mineral notes, rather bock like, so-so. On tap at Arrow and Loon, July 25 2012.

Pours a dark brown body with ruby glints and a decent off-white creamy head. Well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with cinnamon hints. Taste carries brown sugar and oaky notes. Ends with a good bittersweet finish. Not bad. sseb69 (1909) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 2, 2012
En fût au Mill Street Ottawa et en Growler. 5.5%. Excellente.
