Enjoyed a glass with Chopz at the Ottawa brewpub. Has a very small amount of head and doesn’t stay very long. Has a dark amber colour with a vibrant reddish hue. No lacing whatsoever. Aromas of roasted malts and light cherry notes. Flavours are mild cherry, roasted malts, fruity with hints of caramel and raisins. Tingly oily mouthfeel that gives a warming sensation. Cherries are more apparent in the aftertaste on the palate. Quite lively carbonation. Pretty good. Metalchopz (3685) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 23, 2014
Finally found my rating for this one, from April 2013. Enjoyed with a fish’n’chips at the bar. Pours an amber red colour with a white cap and minimal lacing. Berry nose with mild malts. Becomes stronger as it warms up, almost syrupy. Subtle cherry taste at first, but with nice roasted malts, caramel and hints of nuts in the finish. Mild hop grass in the aftertaste. The berry flavours come out with time. Not as sweet as you would expect. Mild cherry scent and taste. Stronger tasting fruits than their Frambozen. czar (9616) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 4, 2013
on tap at brewpub. almost clear ruby with a light pinkish head, some retention and lacing. semi-sweet cherry puree aroma, spicy belgiumness, pepper, grass and lightly bitter herbs. average carbonation, light body - some texture, short bit dusty and sweet cherries and spices. ok. italarican (1606) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 23, 2013
On tap at the Ottawa brewpub. Bright reddish pour with slight pink hue. Aroma has sweet cherry pie notes and some slight tootsie roll. Flavor is cherry heavy, 90% sweet and 10% tart. Slight tanginess to it. One-note of cherry, but it’s interesting and enjoyable. Lubiere (14262) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - APR 16, 2013
A reddish copper ale with a thin pinkish head. In aroma, sweet cherry puree with grassy hops and rather Belgian character. This comes out more in mouth wiith candy sugar and cherry, coriander, not bad.
