On tap at Brothers Beer Bistro. Opaque black body with low carbonation and a thick, lasting beige creamy head. Well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with chocolate hints. Its well balanced taste carries chocolate and roasted cereals notes. Alcohol is well hidden. Ends with a decent bittersweet finish. Enjoyable.

UPDATED: APR 10, 2016 "Enjoyed at the Ottawa brewpub with Chopz. In a tall glass, has a light brownish, thick and creamy head. Dark brown colour with reddish hues. Aromas of chocolate and coffee. Flavours are of nice sweet chocolate with a huge hit of coffee and some roasted malts and notes of mocha. Some mild spices as well. Creamy and full bodied, lacing is ok, weak carbonation. Pretty tasty and glad to have tried from the last keg (being replaced with the Vanilla Porter)"

A deep dark stout with a thick frothy brown head. In aroma, smooth subdued chocolate malt with light coffee notes, grassy hops, light chalky character. In mouth, bitter chocolate with coffee grind, vanilla notes, smooth and subdued. On tap at Mill St Ottawa.

Creamy, semi-sweet chocolate aroma with earthy hops, some butterscotch, and toasted hazelnuts. Opaque black under an eternal, nitrogen, tan head that is lacy and has ruddy highlights. Sweet chocolate flavour with earthy hops and citrusy fermentation esters. Creamy and with lots of semi-sweet chocolate tanginess. Smooth, low carbonation, lasting chocolate bitter finish.

On tap @ Mill Street Ottawa. Pours a nearly opaque chestnut brown with a rich, creamy off-white. Aroma is nutty with subtle bitter chocolate. Taste is rich smoky malt and faint unsweetened chocolate. Chalky and round in the mouth, medium bitter finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Noticed that this was their last keg of this, for this year, so went to the Ottawa pub right away. Pours a dark brown colour with a creamy (nitro) beige head that has great retention and thick full lacing. Coffee smell at first, but then, bittersweet chocolate and vanilla with time. Becomes sweeter as the beer warms up. Silky creamy mouthfeel. Wet, but with a mild dry finish. No burning at all though. The roasted malt is smooth tasting, with coffee notes, and the chocolate comes out in the finish. This last one is more on the bitter side of things (than sweet). The hop also lingers nicely giving a nice grassiness, an even vanilla. This impy is quite easy to drink and well-balanced with all the flavours and aromas. Glad I could try this one (and will again next year... hopefully making this one again).
