3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
New at the Mill Street Brewpub. The barman said that the regular Helles Bock was used as the basis of this release. The pour is a deep ruby red with a thin off-white head, which diminishes to a fine film. The aroma is malty and slightly sweet. The taste is very bready, with residual hints of sugar, before leading through to a dry finish full of roasted grain and a hint of vegetal flavours. The body is medium. I thought this was a very decent seasonal offering, and would definitely try it again.
Old rate. Growler from the brewpub. Pours a dark brown with decent head. Aroma is malty, tobacco. Taste is malt and some roast, and coffee in the finish. Finishes more hoppy as it warms up. Decent. robinvboyer (4812) - Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 11, 2010
On tap at Volo.
Interesting aroma, reminds me of a weisse, not a dunkler. Some cloves, and yeastiness. A nice sweet malty finish. Enjoyable. 09maso3 (72) - vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 23, 2009
on tap at brewpub. Russet coloured. Bready malty nose appropriate for the style. Also some sweet fruits. Flavor not as sweet as the nose. enough hop bitterness. dry finish KyotoLefty (10809) - Kyoto, JAPAN - AUG 27, 2008
Rich, sweet, complex malts, with caramel, dark fruits, and port wine. Bready and biscuity. Not overly sweet; well balanced. Decent dry finish. Very nicely done. TheJester (2543) - Cavan Monaghan, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 12, 2008
On tap at the brew pub. Dark ruby brown with a small beige head. The aroma is quite malty, with some black cherry and a little bit of (slightly burnt) caramel sweetness. The flavour is caramel sweet and malty, with enough roasted malt and hops to keep things from becoming lopsided. Alcohol is well hidden. I don’t think these guys could make a bad beer if they tried.

Draught sample at Pepperwood Beer Festival. Dark ruby-amber colour. Aroma is quite malty and sweet, with dark fruit, a slight toasty/burnt edge, and a hint of hops. Medium bodied. Big caramel flavour, a bit of coffee, well hopped finish with a hint of booze. Big, flavourful, warm - good! Radek Kliber (7501) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - MAR 11, 2008

Appearance: Very handsome dark mahogany lager with neat creamy (decently sized) top with crowning lace 4+
Nose :Sweet fruity aroma , sugar dipped plums , prunes , caramel and brown malts. Gentle green hops.7+
Flavor/Palate : Medium full bodied , creamy , sticky in texture. Big , solid malt base with dark slightly acidic roast . Wet hops appear shortly after. Good bitter side to sweeter mid body. Quiet balanced and drinkable is this rich dunkler bock. Highly recommended.(f-8-)
Pint at the brewery after a tour. A very dark beer with a pleasently lacy tan head. The beer smells of dark caramel sugar and dark fruits such as plums, and dark cherry. It tastes of the same dark fruits with a burnt caramel aftertaste and a full mouthfeel. Sammy (12995) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 5, 2008
Fresh at the brepub. Pours dark brown with lacey head. Aroma is minimally malty, with a touch of tabacco. Taste is malt and some roast, and coffee in the finish. First half pint was more malty, then the bitterness seemed to grow, with the second half pint. Simple recipe but very drinkable. ABove average mouthfeel. mabel (10004) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 22, 2008
[1053-20080119] Tap @ Mill St. (Toronto, ON). Coffee roasted malt aroma. Clear, dark red brown body with a medium-lasting foamy light tan head. Sweet coffee grapes flavour has old squishy banana qualities and a bitter roast aftertaste. Medium-full body is a little thin and bitter throughout. Disappointing.
