AROMA: rye spice, Belgium yeast esters, caramel malt, slightly tart stone fruit, bourbon cask definitely comes through, mellow vanilla notes, spices, molasses, oak, smokey, earthy, char, dry tobacco, slightly metallic, floral, herbs, meadowly, lemon zest, brown sugar, faint toffee and boozy. TASTE: rye spice, Belgium yeast esters, sweet caramel malt, dark stone fruit, bourbon cask, spices, molasses, oak, smokey, earthy, char, phenolic, herbs, lemon zest, brown sugar, faint toffee, boozy herbal hop, slight cinnamon and citrus acidic. AFTER TASTE: caramel, sweet citrus zest, molasses, smokey, oak, stone fruit and rye spice with an oily sweet slightly bitter mellow spiced finish. monk191 (1976) - Portland, Oregon, USA - SEP 11, 2014
A nice unique beer. Pours a bright orange/red with a white head. Smells of berries, cherry and a bit of sourness. Taste is sweet upfront, with some booziness and sourness coming in at the finish. Had in the bottle. bhensonb (15191) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 5, 2014
Bottle from Bine & Vine. Pours copper with a slight white head. Aroma of yeast and rye. Med + body. Flavor is starting strongly bourbon (Four Roses Cask per label), has some rye spice, Belgian yeast/esters (somewhat eclipsed by the bourbon). This is very tasty. Rye and light bourbon seem a good combination. Finishes spicy, not really bitter, but certainly much more bitter than "sweet". Nice. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JUN 27, 2014
Hazed burned orange pour, thin white head. Up front there’s a mix of bourbon, pear, Belgian yeast and bread. Boozy, lightly bitter finish. Interesting beer.

Bottle. Dark amber brown pour, little head. Big rye nose, blended with hints of wood, Belgian sugars, and a hint of booze. Flavors are fairly transposed from the nose. More hints of cherry and rye, quite smooth, low carbonation. Definitely a nice rye whiskey kick towards the finish, which leaves a nice little singe on the tongue from the 9.5%. It’s just over subtle, I liked it! marcus (10222) - Sacramento, California, USA - JUN 24, 2013
Bottle consumed at City Beer. Pours amber with a thin beige head and a fruit and alcohol aroma. There is a bold red malt flavor with a nice bourbon kick at the end. Very tasty. boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 14, 2013
Bottle @ a recent bottle share... Very cool minimalist label on the bottle. Poured amber/reddish with a thick, eggy, off-white head. A nice juxtaposition of bourbon and wood with Belgian yeast notes. Soft, easy mouthfeel. Tasted of bourbon with malted grains and light fruits from yeast esters. Other notes of vanilla and whiskey soaked oak. bb (9268) - Alamo, California, USA - JAN 7, 2013
Bottle. Rich amber beer with a low cream head. Malt and light smokey aroma with light bourbon and light vanilla. Bourbon and vanilla flavor with caramel. Medium bodied. Bourbon and vanilla linger with light oak, caramel, light fruitiness, light smoke, and light yeast. badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - DEC 28, 2012
Bottle. Clear reddish orange amber with almost no head. Musty cereal grain, caramel, and bourbon aroma with some earthy citrus notes. Smooth silky palate. Tastes of bread, caramel, toffee, bourbon, and oak with a cereal grain finish.
