Bottle @ home, courtesy of pepsiedcan. Thanks for the chinchill bronnust bottle, brah! Pours a deep brown appearance with a thin dark brown head. Burnt sugar, dark chocolate, light toffee, slight anise, slight fruity aroma. Kind of goopy and coats the teeth. Black licorice, brown sugar, plum flavor. Millstream had a good thing going with their German beers and it just seems like they’re flushing it down the shitter with all this stuff that they don’t know how to brew.

12 ounce bottle from Brennan’s Brookfield. Dark brown, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, berries. The taste is vanilla, chocolate, roast, nuts. Medium bodied. Nice.

Bottle courtesy of HuskerTan, thank you. Opaque dark brown color, big beige head with good retention. Aroma of cocoa powder, coffee grounds, nutella. Taste is rich and roasty chocolate dipped in espresso. Not sure this is your classic Baltic porter, but it’s tasty.

Blitzen isn’t a bad looking brew but it manages to be pretty underwhelming in about every other aspect. Flavor has some cocoa and black licorice but the complexity never reaches beyond that. Aroma is slight and the body could use lots more richness. Hell, even the bottle art seems half-assed. I’m just being grumpy, now. I’ll stop.

Bottle. A- Chocolate syrup, cocoa, subtle soy sauce, subtle vanilla. A- Black color, black liquid, light brown head. T- Anise, alcohol, cocoa, roasty, slightly dry. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish. O- I’ve been hit or miss with Millstream but this one nailed it. Solid balanced beer with tons of chocolate and a nice balance of roastiness, some anise, and a little alcohol bite, but nothing that hurts it. Quite tasty.

BVery (10609) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - JUN 11, 2014
Bottle. Very dark brown pour with a smaller khaki head. Dark chocolate, roasted malts, slight ash, and black licorice in the aroma and taste. Maybe a touch boozy. Not bad.

Thanks Blake Dark brown pour fluffy foamy tan head. Some light bitter cocoa powder hints of lactose a hint of smokiness. Average palate. Flavor is lightly sweet almost a touch of salty smokey chocolate AND lactose. Pretty good

Bottle thanks to my parents. The beer pours to a pitch black body with a thin light tan head. The aroma is high on black patent and sweetened condensed milk brownies. The flavor is malty and chocolate laden. Dry palate that has a moderate length finish. Medium body. Some licorice and black patent malt. A well made, but not artistically special.

Bottle thanks to PepsidCan. Didn’t know this was such a white whale. Poured into a snifter. small off white head that dies quickly. Nose is full of dark chocolate and light coffee. Taste is vinous and then the alcohol hits your chest like a ton of bricks. Upon second sip I get some strong, dark toffee flavors and then the alcohol kicks me again. Thick and chewy with some raisin character. Damn, more alcohol. An interesting Baltic Porter that seems to be more ale-like, with a metric crap ton of alcohol that isn’t smooth at all, masking all subtleties of the style. It’ll getchya drunk!

nuplastikk (6312) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 12, 2014
12oz bottle. Opaque brown-black body. Foamy, glass-rimming beige head. Rich chocolate caramel aroma, deep malt tones...pretty nice. Sweet and full bodied, with a little trace of heat under the big chocolate tones. Remains full drinkable despite being full bodied, Has some interesting fruity undercurrents. Pretty solid beer overall.

Pours an opaque black with a creamy tan head that mostly dissipates. Aroma is coffee and chocolate. Very creamy with thick viscosity. Very flavorful with the taste of coffee, burnt malt and chocolate on the front end with a nice dry bitterness on the finish. A well made porter that pairs well with blackened mahi mahi on sourdough.
