JPDIPSO (6317) - Wauwatosa, USA - MAR 14, 2016
Cloudy straw color with a tall slightly off-white head. Presence of fish food as well. Decent aromas with light yeast, mild citrus and spice. Flavors are simple with cream, pale malts, bit of yeast, vanilla and cloves. A decent hoppy wit, actually along the lines of Schneider Hopenweisse. A noble task decently done. 1/15

Stine (1802) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - AUG 27, 2014
Dull plain gold color capped with well-laced white. Phenolic packaging tape aroma. Hay, wort, and rotten banana. The dusty, tired out corners of each element. Lemon curd and a fair amount of fresh herbal fragrance in the flavor. Pear skin and mealy flesh composes the sugary, doughy middle. The lack of textural sparkle exacerbates the astringent adhesive issue. The overbearing finish is rubbery, trashy, phenol-stricken, sweet.

Pint tap at devils advocate. Gold with white head. Good lacing. Smells slightly sweet and maybe a little off. Citrus and full taste and mouthfeel. A little weird. It’s pretty decent to drink. Needs more but ok.

Bottled. Poured cloudy medium golden with a short-lived white head. The aroma picked up honey, vanilla, and cloves, with a second layer of oak and redder-skinned, fruity hops.. felt like it was packing some power. The flavor found honey, caramel, and white wheat at the core, with cloves, citrus bitterness, and white pepper around.. lots of the spices and related tanginess over sweet wheat and honey on the finish. Medium-bodied and fairly strong on the palate.. lots of odd and big components, but they mostly worked together.. interesting.

On tap at the brewery. Pale, golden and hazy appearance with a white head. Fresh aroma lemon zest, orange peel, bready wheat malts, clove spice, coriander and tropical fruits. Similar flavor, smooth and easy to drink, the 9.1% ABV is completely hidden. Nicely done.

12oz bottle scooped up at Zips in Minneapolis. Hazy unfiltered orange-tan body. Thin, glass lacing white head. Hoppy, rindy residue. Not really in line with most White IPAs, this has a drier, more bitter thing going on. Dry straw, wheat notes. Flowery, earthy feel. OK, probably nicer brewery fresh. Comes off like a hoppy Double Wit at times, oddly noble hopped. I’d guess it was in the 7-8% ABV range...8.1% according to BA, and they call it a Belgian IPA, but I think it is most similar to an unfiltered Imperial Pils, with the strawy dry hop tones. Final thought - tastes like a really nice Imperial Pils.

On Draught
Pours hazy with almost a bronze color with a small head.

The aroma is all sorts of juicy and fruity, some pineapple & orange. It’s a touch grainy smelling, but surprisingly not very boozy.

The flavor is indeed boozy and very spicy, some of the fruity hops are there with plenty of orange character and some light bitterness. The hop flavor isn’t bad but the spices are a little strong, everything seems a touch muddled, but not enough to be altogether unpleasant.

bytemesis (9625) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - APR 24, 2013
Bottle. Pours hazy golden yellow with a very large off white creamy head that dissipates slowly with nice lacing. Aroma is citrus, wheat, very light. Flavor is quite hoppy citrus bitter, touch of yeast, pine, very light spice, light sweet, medium bitter. I date say this is one of those white IPAs that cause so much controversy in these parts!

UPDATED: APR 24, 2013 bottle of beer from amana, iowa from mr. garbages son random. seems like a nice enough bloke. let’s start the notes off with some pined apple, sudded cotton candy. melon. sweet candied tropical fruits. tangerines. soft wheat malt backing. bitter grapefruit, soft cracker creamed wheat. hint of dry resin and grapefruit finish. weird gummy bear note. decent.
