COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The name Schild Brau means essentially 'Shield beer' in German. This is our Flagship brew, a Microbrew done in the style of the special beers of Munich. This beer is brewed in the style of a Vienna style lager. This style was first developed by Anton Dreher in Vienna in 1841. He used a new type of sweet caramelized malt that gave the beer a wonderful reddish, coppery color and a juicy malt character. Word soon spread to Germany where this style of beer became immensely popular, and stronger versions called Marzen or Oktoberfest were soon made. Our beer uses these same malts to attain a perfect balance between malty sweetness and a firm bitterness. Our Hallertau hops are imported from Germany give it subtle spicy flavor. The repeated awards that we have received for this beer only confirm why many people consider this beer to be synonymous with Millstream Brewing at its best.

Draft. Amber body. Off-white, short head, quickly diminishing. Aroma of grain, caramel, bread. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, chalky texture, lively carbonation. Raw grain taste with secondary flavors of caramel and nuts. Some floral hop flavors, but not much.

Very malty and smooth, but with a pleasant freshness. A bit of barnyard, a bit of overripe dark fruit, a touch of holiday spice! Lightly dry finish. Nice depth. I’d love to serve this one as a beer with a bit of something extra to friiends who just grab what ever mass produced beer is on sale.

12 oz. bottle thanks to pineypower. Poured a rusty copper body with a smaller off white head. Aroma is grainy with notes of peanut shells, honey topped toast. Nice medium body with slightly strong carbonation and a refreshing finish. Flavor is a bit better then the aroma with an initial ast of sour sweetness that gives way to caramel malt and toast. Not much going on here but it’s okay.

12oz bottle pours a hazy orange/amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is bready yeast, caramel malts, honey and melon. Taste similar to aroma. Decent.
