Thanks to heemer77 for bringing the sampler of Millstreams to TN!
This one starts with a large creamy head on a hazy, medium orange amber brew.
Light malt aroma with a whiff of hop perfume in the back.
Lightly sweet with a good malt flavor.
Well done V/O/M. Skyview (6055) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - APR 28, 2007
I remember drinking this beer regularily back in 1991 when brewmaster Larry Schantz first brewed this beer for Millstream. Brewfiend brought a 12 oz bottle to help me remember the North Star Chapter’s Guzzle ’n Twirl shows in St Paul some 17 years ago. Schantz and his family were regular guests and brought plenty of Millstream lager and Schild Brau to the shows. Pours a hazy amber brew with a thick off white head that dissappears quickly. Lacing is nice. Aroma has sweet barley malt, citrus peel, some nuttiness, and pitted fruit. Taste is smooth, a little carbonated, and a little buttery. Finish is smooth and sweet. Though the brewery has changed brewmasters, it’s nice to notice the Schild Brau has not changed in flavor over the years. BeerZack (288) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - MAY 4, 2008
Dark copper color with minimal head.
Sweet caramel, marzipan, some toffee, fig, hint of spice (nutmeg).
Pleasantly surprising flavor, much more subdued sweetness than the nose shows. Some mild caramel sweetness balanced by some dry roasted barley notes and just enough hop bitterness to almost cleanse the palate.
Medium-heavy carbonation, a bit stinging, medium body. Pretty drinkable. ILoveNewBeer (113) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - MAY 23, 2008
Pours a reddish brown color, head is a copper color. Tastes of hops, slight spice, and something that I know I should know what it is but I can’t place it. Millstream never fails to produce quality beer. brewcrew2002 (89) - USA - AUG 22, 2008
Good old iowan brew. pours a nice amber with a small head. caramel and toffee notes. not to bad.

This beer pours a nice red color with a small head. Aroma of malts, hops, fruit, and caramel. Nice lacing around my glass. Flavor is of malts and caramel. Finish is nice and smooth. A very enjoyable beer. wlajwl (6812) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - FEB 3, 2011
Good malt heft to it, one of the least flashy beers out there, but doesn’t mean that the beer isn’t good. DuchessOfIowa (161) - Iowa, USA - JUL 7, 2015
Out of the bottle dated June. Dark amber/copper hue with a small amount of haze, white head with medium lacing. Nutty with caramel notes and a hint of smoke on the finish. Mouth feel is crisp with some decent carbonation. Sweetness in the beginning finished with an earthy mild bitterness. Very pleasant overall roasted malt flavor and balanced example of style. Bottle from iowaherkeye via Mystery Swap 2.0. Pours clear deep ruby color with 1-finger off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, red wine grapes, toffee. Tastes caramel malty, with some cabernet notes, honey, toffee, and slight hops. Fairly rich palate, with a lot of fruity notes. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - AUG 3, 2007
(Bottle, courtesy of Sledge Jr) Pours a clear amber body with a spare off-white head. Aroma of caramel, nuts, and toastiness. Flavor of nuts, caramel, and toffee.
