Brownish red. Sweet smoky aroma. Cherry wood, caramel- toffee. Subtle spice with a fruity Ness. Fresh rain crispness maybe giving it a mineral grassyness. Taste is smooth, malty, medium to high sweet with a nice balanced bitter spice kick. Smoke cherry tobacco in the back, moving forward as it warms. Impressive for Millstream. It's great seeing a smoked barley wine! fidelis83 (2535) - Clinton, Iowa, USA - SEP 20, 2017
Hazy chestnut pour, one finger, creamy beige head. Aroma is big fruitwood smoke, dark caramel, cooked fruit, spicy hops. Flavor is big on fruity smoke, dark caramel, a hint of roast, toffee, big, dry nutty notes, cooked stone fruit, iodine and a little herbal coffee. Medium body, slightly syrupy to chewy feel. Good stuff, super smoky, but with different smoke flavors than usually found in beers. Gription79 (2892) - Bountiful, Utah, USA - JAN 25, 2015
Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. The aroma is filled with sweet smoke and soft bready malte.g. The flavor is smoke filled as well. There are also notes of bready malts, toffee. The smoke dominates this beer. jmagnus87 (3302) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - OCT 15, 2013
Bottle sampled at a tasting. From notes. Smokey and a little boozy. Dark fruits and some caramel. Good, but not great. Ericular (1042) - Minnesota, USA - OCT 10, 2013
No date on bottle. Pours a nice deep red with quickly fading head, decent lacing, and lots of yeast sediment. Aroma is smoked meats, woody campfire, and peat. Also, a little richness from some dark fruit, but overall the aroma is too heavy on the processed meat vibe. Taste is similar, with a little malt up front before diving in to the smoked wood taste. I’m not a big fan of smoke beers anyway, but it was a little interesting having a barleywine as a base. Not much alcohol detected, but I wasn’t excited to finish this one.

Bottle, LOL. Pour is copperish, soooo much smoked meats. Taste like a butcher shop that was set on fire for a little bit. I really liked smoked meats, which is awesome. This beer just doesn’t do it for me. Its not bad, just interesting. jebert (500) - Watertown, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 2, 2013
Pours a reddish copper with almost no head with some grain particles floating in the beer. Aroma was faint, perhaps a bit of smoke. Very creamy and nice viscosity, the taste is smoke, sweet barley malt, some caramel, licorice and alcohol. Smokiness dominates the flavor profile. Not my favorite barleywine, but a decent brew. lweiberg (142) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - JUL 18, 2013
Quite smoky, and the alcohol is not overpowering. Could be more complex, but I got a single for under $2, which was a good deal. blipp (9929) - La Mesa, California, USA - JUN 29, 2013
Bottle. Pours amber with a beige head. Sweet and smoked malts, with hints of burlap, and light floral bitterness in the finish. Good stuff. jcwattsrugger (12559) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - MAY 3, 2013
12oz bottle-tan-dk amber. A-smoke, med malt-roast. T-smoke/peat/ashy, med malt-roast/caramel, some earthy hops. Wrong mouthfeel for a barleywine.
