Our Warsh Pail is a hoppy pale ale that we make with plenty of cascade hops from the west coast. We decided to name it "Warsh" Pail Ale because its from the midwest. We don't say wash around here...we say WARSH. Its one of those words that gives Iowa its local flavor, so we though it appropriate to name a beer after it that also is full of local-ness.

Had this several years ago, remember it as being middle of the road as far as APAs. Mildly malty and balanced by the hops, not a flavor blast, but while decent I can see why they dont still make it.

Amber to orange with a thin off-white head, slowly fading. Aroma of citrus, sweet malt and lots of caramel. Taste of citrus, sweet malt and mild hops. Light palate thats a bit vegetal. More like a watered down amber than an APA, but it was probably a bit old since its retired and hasnt been rated in almost a year.

Bottled. Poured just slightly hazy medium orange with a short, sticky, well-retained cap of beige head. The aroma picked up grapefruit, caramel, and fresh pine with a lovely balance to it.. quite fragrant and enticing. The flavor wasnt far off.. caramel and grapefruit meat join up with a pinch of honey at the core.. light-to-moderate bitterness from pine, earth, and grapefruit.. sweet fruity finish stamped with pine bitters. Medium-bodied with rising bitterness toward the back of the palate.. a little rough on the finish with a dry and bitter feel.. otherwise flowed well. This could be a very good daily drinker.. bummer its apparently retired.

Appearance: Pours a hazy, orange-amber body with a frothy white head. Smell: Faint pale maltiness with hop citrus and some strong peppery notes. Taste: Pale malts with a flash of toffee sweetness. Light citrus hop flavor, though not much bitterness ever presents itself. More pepper spiciness. Mild finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: So-so! Though, its one of those beers where one is enough.

Pours a transparent orange amber with a thin wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of lightly sweet, grainy pale malt and a touch of piny hops. Body starts slightly sweet and earthy with some mildly resinous bittering and flavor hops toward a crisp, bittersweet finish. Pretty drinkable and well-balanced but not as assertive as some other APAs.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle from Brennans Country Farm Market in Brookfield, WI. Pours a semi-clear coppery amber brew with a thin and fast dissolving off-white head that has some lacing and a thin white ring. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus zest, and a touch of apple skin. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with flavors of dry caramel malt, citrus and piney hops with a slight fruity background. Finish is slightly dry and bitter with a fruit aftertaste. Nice touch.
