Chelmsford Beer Festival. Cask. Light haze on this gold beer, a few pale cream colour bubbles. Palate is light and smooth, modest fine carbonation. Smooth sweetish malts, a touch of honey. Mild marmalade and a little lemon. Some sweet floralness. Light spice. Light dry finish. A dry but pretty drinkable golden. This ain’t an English Strong.

Overheard: "He’s not gonna be able to visit a farm again is he?" Re: David Cameron, #baeofpigs.
Cask at the Devonshire Arms, Cambridge. Golden, clear with almost no head. Apricot, tropical fruit and seawater in the aroma. Strong alcoholic fruity taste. Unfortunately the aftertaste is astringent bordering on acrid so the whole package is brought down a notch.

Cask (White Horse, Parson’s Green)
Initial fleshy fruity aroma, nice sweet maltiness too. Smooth palate, sweetish. Luscious, even - so moreish. Great fruity hop aromatics in the mouth, and leaves a gentle bitter bite too. Classic pale ale, I could session this happily.
