3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice to see that Skyview was at Beerfest too. This pours dark brown, with a combination of malt and hops with some cocoa. Semi-sweet, it’s nice.
(Backlog) Bottle of fantasy tasting at Paul’s. Black pour with tan head. Roasted aroma, although one dimensional here. Flavor really lacking, some light malt tones with some off tones. GT (10000) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 6, 2012
355mL thanks to nuplastikk. Bottle says MKE admiral’s stash bourbon barrel Baltic porter. Very bizarre rebrand that needs to be recognized by ratebeer. Pours a clear mahogany to brown with a very large beige head. Big retention and spotty lacing. Nose is very sweet with strawberry syrup and artificial candies. Taste is bland and minerally with odd vegetal notes. Some dark cherry cola. Palate is dry and chalky. Muted notes of sweet chocolate but that would be giving too much credit. crossovert (12874) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 31, 2012
Now called Admiral Stache. Barrel aged baltic porter. I don’t really get the barrel notes. I just thought it was thin for the style. DasBierChef (1083) - Hudson, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 20, 2011
This beer is really pretty decent, but still nothing much to it. I like some more complexity. j12601 (11571) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - JUL 18, 2011
Bottle at Victor’s bracket box tasting at Paul’s. Pours a clear brown with a thin beige head. Smoky toast, roast and chocolate. Slightly sour-ish, oxidized and thin. Malty and roast. Chocolate, toast, long thinned out chocolate finish.

Dark brown pour nice tan well laced head although the beer just looks a little thin. flavor is bottom of the coffee pot bitter almost a touch sour too it from the coffee roast as well, Touches of milk chocolate do come through. Palate is to thin. Aroma is very light hint of chocolate, hard to pick up. Not a very good baltic. hopdog (12510) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 26, 2008
On tap. Poured a darker brownish color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, some dark fruits, and roast. Tastes of chocolate and some dark fruitiness. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - APR 15, 2008
On tap at the Ale House. Poured dark reddish-brown with a short cap of off-white head. Soy and molasses give the first impression from the aroma.. as it warmed, it picked up a nice level of toastiness and some chocolate.. I enjoyed it after the initial impression. The flavor had semi-sweet chocolate with molasses and boozy soy.. the back-end was a bit muddled with a bunch of dark sugars going on.. not offensive, but not too particularly well-composed. This felt better on the palate as it warmed up.. heavier-bodied with a dry back-end.. hid the alcohol quite well.. bitterness was lighter and complimentary. Decent brew. brewblackhole (1588) - Muskego, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 31, 2008
Rich fruit and malt initialy hit the nose, not getting the chocolate promised, could be some alcohol there, cant nail down the fruits but its not fig, taste goes heavy to the fruit side, you almost get the impression your drinking a dry fruity wine, fruit is defintely raisin that alcohol I couldn’t detect in the aroma,is blazing with both barrels in the taste, but not in a harsh way,its coming on smooth and pleasant. Some chocolate coming around as it warms. Head is nowhere to be found, hop bittering falls with the easy alcohol for a nice contemplative finish. Needs a little more malt influence, yeast esters to dominating. Described as being a lager, and tha is perfectly acceptable for a Baltic Porter to use lager yeast.
