3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Had at the brewpub. Not bad but still has the Milwaukee ale house something just isn’t quite right taste. Not sure what that is. Maybe I need to try this on again. Serving: Tap
This beer is really pretty decent, but still nothing much to it. I like some more complexity. GJF (1520) - Mount Vernon, Iowa, USA - JUN 2, 2011
This one didn’t work for me. The spice flavors are overpowered and unbalanced. An unpleasant aftertaste. nuplastikk (6512) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 5, 2010
Draft at the OF. Stained-glass reddish brown color. Soap foam head. Sweet and malty, with a nice fruity tang. Dates. Figs. Raisin. Plum. Quite sweet and nice. An interesting tweeked-out version of the style. Lacks the effervescent body of a true Belgian, but makes up for it with it’s flavor. phishpond417 (2088) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 20, 2008
Pours a copperish colour with a big off white head. Aroma is strong of alcohol, coriander and malts. Taste is a little unbalanced in my opinion, really heavy on the spice. Mouthfeel is full and very carbonated. Maybe I just need to try it again.

Pours a nice dark brown with a large bubbled smallish head. Overwhelming aroma of coriander but some sweet malt is evident underneath. Flavor is overwhelming coriander that is so strong that it covers up the other flavors. I sent this one back as it was borderline undrinkable (i.e. drain pour). It did have a nice silky mouthfeel. By far the worst beer I have ever enjoyed at my favorite local brewpub. shendrix (478) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 19, 2008
This was by far the best beer I encounterred at a very nice night of drinking at the Milwaukee Ale House. A deep amber beer with just a hint of a head, it tastes like sourdough bread laced with citrus honey. Extremely drinkable. Styles (2016) - Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA - JUL 25, 2005
Tap: dark ruby color with film for head. Aroma very sweet and spicy. Residuel sugar with some clove. Flavor much the same with a bigger caramel kick. I thought this was easily ther best beer. JPDIPSO (6298) - Wauwatosa, USA - JUN 30, 2005
Dark copper color with a modest light beige head. Mild toast and caramel aromas with hints of clove and cinnamon. Full feel, but not overly heavy as the aromas may suggest. Mild wheat and toasted barley flavors, give way to an interesting fruit and spice mix (mincemeat pie comes to mild). A decent effort, but nothing really stands out to make this special. 1FastSTi (3358) - Glendale, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 29, 2005
UPDATED: JAN 14, 2008 Had this on tap. This was a very spicy beer. I really didn’t like the amount of spice in the flavor. The palate was decent. The barkeep said it was a Belgian, but it surely didn’t taste like Belgian’s that I like. I give them credit for trying, but I didn’t think this was anything special. New batch. Jan 13, 2008. Pours to a ruby body with a thin ring white head. The flavor is sweet malts, cigar tobacco, toasted coriander, fire-braised orange rind, and dark candi sugars. Extremely unique. The candi sugar really shines on this one. Not cloying in the slightest like most dubbels. The aroma is subtle but has a nice sweet dark candi sugar, cigar tobacco, orange peel, and light coriander. The palate is medium bodied with a slick velvet texture.
