COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A crisp golden ale, dry hopped with Czech Saaz hops for exceptional flavor and aroma. This is one of the original styles that was home-brewed as a hybrid of an American pale ale using traditional euro Pilsner hops.

On tap at State Fair. Hazy golden tan with a small head. A good ale with pine and grapefruit hops throughout. Nice doughy malt background with a crisp finish that lingers.

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2007 I like this beer, and it’s way underrated. They must use fresh hops. It’s very dry, and crisp. One of my favorites from one of my favorite breweries.

This beer poured golden with a decent firm white head. The aromas showed some malt and yeast which led into a very crisp dry ale. The finish as muted but overall a decent pour.

On tap @ the brewpub: Clear golden pour with a white head. Aroma, grassy and skunky. Flavor, pale malts, some skunk. It makes no sense.

Draught at pub. Citrus aroma. Decent. Cloudy orange. Nice lace. Nice doughy aspect. Session qualities. Has cask characteristics; creamy, subtle. Tastes a little like the Saaz hops were fresh instead of dried. A pretty good session brew that is a tad on the dry side. Has subtle hop. Deserving of its relatively high style ranking. A little underrated.

Pours golden orange with a white head. Smells of hops, orange and grapefruit. Very bitter, mostly grapefruit with some earth mixed in. Bitter hop finish.

KingpinIPA (841) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 28, 2007
Cloudy amber color. Smell of orange, malt, honey, flowers and hops. Taste of sweet malt, honey, hops, flowers, leafs, orange peals, minor citrus and a dry bitterness at the end.

On tap at the Ale House. Poured a clear medium amber with a short white head.. left rather nice lacing as it descended. Aroma was of sweet grapefruit and caramel paired with dry floral hops.. enjoyed it. The flavor was less than stellar, with a sweet grapefruit and caramel base poorly balanced against a high level of diacetyl and floral bitterness.. sharp bitters through the finish. Sharp and unbalanced, but had good flavor components.

GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - NOV 22, 2006
Draught at the brewpub. Slightly hazy yellow-orange color with thin white head that laced the glass. The aroma was dominated by the hops which smelled of light fruity candy. Flavor was similar. Dry on the tongue with a light bitter finish.

Sample at Brewery. Had a meium citrus aroma. Hazy gold body color. Good syrupy citrus flavor. Smooth and refreshing to the palate. Decent beer.
