COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Milwaukee Brewing Co’s take on a classic European style, Baltic Porters are the stronger lager fermented cousin of the classic London Porter. The higher strength and cold fermentation help to create a smooth less fruity porter rich in roasted malt flavors and aromas. The Baltic Porter from the Milwaukee Brewing Co has deep brown hue with a light caramel head. Toffee and milk chocolate dominate the flavor with subtle hints of dried fruit. One month of aging in Bourbon Barrels imparted a layer of vanilla and oak.

Brown color with hints of burnt orange when held to the light. Small lid of beige bubbles. Dark malt aromas dominate. Quite sweet with caramel and dark brown sugar. Roasted malts weave in and out with a piece of dark toasted whole grain bread coming to mind. Only a hint of vanilla to suggest any barrel aging. Certainly not your over bourbon-ed porter. Fairly simple and straight forward.

Dark brown color with a smaller dense off-white head. Dark chocolate and mild coffee scents with a mild backdrop of floor malt. Flavors match up with the scents with some caramel and a black malt bitterness in the finish and linger.

Bottle shared with northropfrye. Delicious aroma of coffee and chocolate, though the taste does not quite live up the aroma. Still a delicious beer.

On tap at local sports bar. Eric had one too. Pours very dark brown with a tan head. Nice lacing. Chocolate, some caramel, some licorice and lactose. Not too bitter for style. Tasty, though, and likely one of MKE’s best. 13.9

(Backlog) Bottle of fantasy tasting at Paul’s. Black pour with tan head. Roasted aroma, although one dimensional here. Flavor really lacking, some light malt tones with some off tones.

Muddy black color with a dark tan foamy head. Aroma of burgundy wine, molasses and semisweet chocolate. Flavor is creamy dark chocolate, sweet bourbon, coffee and dark roasted malt. Full bodied and thick on the palate with a tingle of carbonation and a long creamy, bitter finish.

Purchased in six pack form at a random liquor store in Milwaukee, WI; enjoyed during a fantasy baseball draft. Appearance is a dark black with a bubbly white head that seems rather carbonated. Aroma of light chocolate, not too much else. Taste is where this one shines, good easy drinking chocolate notes with light mint and light bourbon barrel flavor. Overall though for the style it’s sub par.

Pours like dark coffee with an off white head and decent lacing at the top of glass. For a porter to my surprise the aroma was full of citrus, dried fruit, grass, wheat, and roasted malts. It has a medium body with complex taste and palate of cocoa and burnt caramel with a subtle sweetness. Overall, not a bad beer but I was expecting some smell and flavor of wood and bourbon since it was aged in bourbon barrels.

UPDATED: MAR 30, 2015 Dark body. Sweet and roast malts. Coffee and cocoa and a bit of sweetness in the flavour. Quite nice. Re-rate: Kind of a corn, almost relish-like funkiness in the taste. Roast. I’ll leave the rating the same, though.

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2014 Pours black. I got a Large, frothy, creamy light brown head. Rather subdued aroma; dark toasty, burnt caramel, licorice. Flavor is rather complex compared to other MKE brewing beers I’ve had. Quite roasty. Fairly sweet. Medium body. Creamy and smooth. Solid brew.

Great looking, smelling, and tasting. Black with tan head and great lacing. Aromas of bourbon and vanilla. Similar flavors with some burnt coffee and over ripe cherries. Love this!

A good tasting porter but I dont think the month it spent in barrels added anything to the beer.
