I had this in a bottle, not the normal tap (I assume tap is normal for this). When I opened the bottle, I noticed a strong aroma. That subsided and it poured a decent frothy head. Color is defintely a deep amber/red. On inspection, my nose immediately noticed a milk chocolate / toffee scent. That scent carries into the initial flavor, but very lightly. But the "commercial description" is a little fluffy, as I found a lack of complexity in it. Flavor was light, but not unpleasant. Overall... ok, but nothing special. brewblackhole (1587) - Muskego, Wisconsin, USA - APR 4, 2004
Light malt aroma, light but sweet malt taste, not many hops around here. Nothing wrong, just not bold enough to be rated with the higher beers StewardofGondor (1933) - Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 15, 2004
UPDATED: NOV 16, 2004 This is a descent brew. It’s very smooth and even sweet, almost syrupy, dare I say. Has nice medium brown undertones when it first hits your tongue, but then it livens up to its amber ale status. Since it’s the Milwaukee Ale House’s best seller, you’d be doing a disservice by not trying it, but after you’ve had your preview, switch over to the Pull Chain brew. It’s very similar, just more malt and hops and less sweet. hopdog (13258) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 12, 2005
On tap at the Milwaukee Ale House Brew Pub. Poured a medium to darker copper color with small sized off white head. Aromas and tastes of malts (caramel and light toffee). Medium sweet. noncaloric (684) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 8, 2009
Clear medium amber, kicking up billows of of a yellowish beige head. Nice lace. Malt based aroma, some malt syrup with a bit of smoke. Flavors caramel, a bit of cider. Just enough hops bitters to make it not-exactly sweet. Basic clean session ale, non-complex, but nothing is off. Medium body.

Amber pour with a tan head. Aroma is malty. Taste is roasted malt, a little creamy, some nuttiness. OK beer ccex (1391) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 24, 2012
12 oz bottle exploded into huge overflowing off-white head. Once I wiped it up and things settled, the color was cloudy amber. Aroma has considerable nuts and spices. Body is light to medium with average carbonation. Taste is slightly spicy, slightly bitter without much of a finish. OK beer, but I’d like to try one that doesn’t erupt. Can at Bug Club. Sorry, first rule of Bug Club is that you do not talk about Bug Club. Malty nose and malty taste. Slightly bitter finish, but mostly a malt bomb. Some diacetyl butter too, which goes ok with the malt. Aggiebob (1391) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - JAN 28, 2017
Bottle. Copper color poured with a quickly dissipating off-white head. Malty aroma with notes of caramel. It is light bodied with some light metallicness in the taste. StoutBeerReviews (275) - Kenosha, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 26, 2017
really had a hard time figuring out what was going on here, its a unique malt and hop combo, like the flavor is very deep and low profile but also sort of stale somehow. its got a nice fruity flowering aftertaste that kinda sits in the middle too. its good, just very different.
