COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A robust Irish style oatmeal stout with distinct roast chocolate notes and a creamy smooth finish. The German immigrants who founded Milwaukee's first big breweries brought over more from their homeland than a love of great beer: they brought their zest for life and friendly competition. Area brewers would gather regularly for a game of Sheepshead which would develop from a friendly after-work card game into a late night of skill and nerve, full of tense moments, shouting, laughter, and, of course, great beer. Gesundheit!

12 ounce bottle from a sampler from Sendik's Marquette. Black, large fizzy tan head, good retention. Aroma of roast, oats, chocolate. The taste is roasted malts, oats, chocolate. Medium bodied, creamy, smooth. Nice stout.

Bottle courtesy Drake - many thanks!! Pours dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is faint, but what's there is coffee, milk chocolate, caramel. Flavor is slightly creamy chocolate, coffee, nuts. An easy stout - not complex, a bit thin but tasty.

12oz bottle from Ridgeview Liquors in Green Bay. Cola colored pour. Beige head. Aroma has sweet caramel, molasses, some nut, some espresso and smooth oatmeal. More nut in the nose with more espresso in the taste. Some fruit. Medium bodied. The oatmeal smooths it out nicely. Blend is solid. Little alcohol. Softly carbonated. Finishes sweetly short. Ultimately a bit thin. Hmmm. How is this not the other sheepshead? 13.4

Brown-black with tan head. Molasses, mild roast, chocolate, and some dark fruit. Flavor is acidic roast with mild brown sugar and light roast. Lightly sweet. Mild dry, sugary roast.

On tap at their Grafton location, pours an almost opaque brown with a rich deep tan head. The smell is roasted malt, coffee. The taste is as it smells with some decent roast ending with a touch of bitterness. The body is light/medium with smooth, fine carbonation. Pretty good stuff.

Nitro draft at Milwaukee Ale House. Black with ruby notes and thick tan head with substantial lacing. Chocolate malt and coffee aroma. Chocolate malt upfront with coffee notes and some bitterness. Chocolate finish. Body is a bit thin for a stout, especially a nitro. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nitro pour at Milwaukee Ale House. The beer is black with a quarter inch of tan head. Oats, roast, chocolate. Classic oatmeal stout aroma and flavor. Super easy to drink. Delightful feel on the palate, attributed in large part to the serving medium. Well balanced and easy drinking. One of the highlights from this establishment.

Draft. Pours almost black. Mediun dense creamy light brown head, fully lasting with thick lace. Medium body. Loaded with coffee and chocolate. Some caramel. Some sweetness nicely balanced by moderate roastiness and mild bitterness. Creamy. Quite delicious.

Good oatmeal stout but not great. I had it at their bar as part of a flight. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap @MAH-Grafton. Poured dark, opaque chocolate brown, thin but lasting layer of tan foam. Light aroamas of roasted grain, coffee. Flavor more on the dry side, a bit closer to burnt grains with a hint of sour. Medium to light palate for the style. Overall, a step above most mass produced dark beers, very easy drinking. Would not have pegged it as a either a sweet or oatmeal stout.
