Tap sample. Poured a black color with an average fizzy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy dark coffee and chocolate malt aroma. Medium to heavy dark chocolate flavor with a medium to heavy sweet coffee finish of moderate duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a good beer. 12 ounce bottle from a sampler from Sendik's Marquette. Black, large fizzy tan head, good retention. Aroma of roast, oats, chocolate. The taste is roasted malts, oats, chocolate. Medium bodied, creamy, smooth. Nice stout. crossovert (14354) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 3, 2011
On tap. A pretty basic stout with a bit of the sweet side added to it. It is a dark brownish black and is very smoothe. hopdog (13374) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 12, 2005
On tap at the Milwaukee Ale House Brew Pub. Poured a darker black with red at edges and an averaged sized tan head. Subtle aromas and tastes (on nitro) of chocolate, roasted malts, light oatmeal and very light coffee. Creamy body. arminjewell (9745) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - OCT 4, 2010
On tap at brewpub, on nitro. Deep brown/black pour with tan head, aroma is coffee, chocolate, roasted malt. Taste up front is big chocolate, coffee, some biscuit in the middle leading to roasted, bitter malt finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Very nice brew!

Now this is a beer! Classic dark appearance and plenty of roasted malt aromas. There is lots of chocolate and coffee in the flavor. The use of nitrogen removes any "zing" this stout might have but it was a very good beer. CaptainCougar (7634) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - DEC 26, 2003
UPDATED: FEB 23, 2004 Pours a rich dark black with a thick tan nitro head. Mildly roasted bittersweet malty aroma. Body has a nice mouthfeel and plenty of sweet roasted malts. Could use a touch more balance, but a good tasting stout. Ughsmash (7502) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 20, 2007
On tap at the Ale House. Poured a lovely shade of deep brown with mahogany highlights.. maintained its creamy caramel head ’til the very end. Aroma was pretty much not there... some coffee and dry milk chocolate, but almost untouchable. Day-old coffee and baker’s chocolate in the flavor... dry and grainy with some woody notes toward the back-end. Medium-bodied with a decent chocolatey finish. Decent at best, and not a very good stout. nuplastikk (6651) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 21, 2011
Imperial pint at MAH. Big, rusty beige head. Brown-black body. Somewhat underwhelming for a Stout, needs some more chocolate depth. Very caramelly. Watery, doesn’t really nail the style. BBB63 (6567) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - JUN 11, 2003
Case conditioned on tap - Black opaque with a small tan head, little lace, medium-bodied. Smokey, coffee, bitter-sweet chocolate, and pine tones on the nose. Tart and sweet balance, creamy mouthfeel. Smokey aftertaste. Very Good.
