Tap at Bakushu Club Popeye, Tokyo. As ’Winter Ale’. Hazy copper shade. Washes of off-white head. Yeasty, candy-like fruity aroma. Taste is lightly spiced with notes of fruit cake and orange notes. Fairly full, sticky, warming mouthfeel. Good stuff. willisread (3651) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - FEB 12, 2015
On tap at Popeye. Served in a snifter. Church-wine rust color and off-white head. Strong dark fruit aroma: fig, currant, prune with a hint of funkiness from the yeast. Strong honey and floral flavors present along with the fruit from before. Only a touch of spice present. Really nice strong ale. GenDV138 (7699) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - DEC 4, 2014
Bottle poured into a hotel glass. Clear golden brown with off-white head. Aromas of dark fruit, caramel, light spices. Tastes of dark fruit, caramel, toffee, honey, syrup, floral notes. Medium body with a dry finish. KansaiBeerLvrs (5373) - Kyoto, JAPAN - NOV 21, 2014
UPDATED: DEC 4, 2014 Minamishinshu Christmas brown ale on tap at Bungalow (end of the keg) seems quite different from previous releases. It is a vibrant Amber brown color with a foamy off white head. The aroma is a malty citrus and the taste matches that. Not terribly Christmasy but solid.

Tap at Shinshu Sake Mura. Murky orange brown colour with small golden head. Aroma is bit stinky, bit of spice, malty, bit of apple. Taste is similar, more apple, nice Christmassy spice, subtle clove maybe, more fruits, bit of orange. Malty sweetness. Quite strange but quite nice. motelpogo (8031) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - FEB 18, 2012

Didn’t think much of this. Really plain higher alcohol beer. Dull flavours - maybe some apple and alcohol. Doesn’t improve or go anywhere as it warms. Almost home brew esc. thebeertourist (5189) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 20, 2010
On tap at Popeye as Winter Ale. Hazy copper with a small head. Great raisins and nuts. Good dryness towards the finish after a sweet start. A treat.
