65 cl bottle, Calgary, AB, Canada. Dark brown, almost black, thin off white head. Raisin and caramel aroma. Sweeter than expected, slight resin, then a prune finish.

Cocoa aroma and flavor dominates this light bodied stout. Roast and coffee malts unite with bitterness in a supporting role. Picked up the bottle for under $4 with the name of Chocolate Bunny by Rhinelander Brewing. Goes well with Toscano Black Pepper Cheese.

Tallahassee, Fl - Trader Joes - 22 oz bomber - labeled as Boatswain Chocolate Stout. Pours black as coal with a sticky khaki colored head that leaves plenty of thick lacing. Aroma has some light hints of powdered cocoa; some grainy notes. Flavor is decidedly sweet with some bakers unsweetened chocolate, a hint of potting soil, some day old black coffee. Mouthfeel could be a tad thicker. Pretty solid fr $2.49!

From bomber. Pours as dark as you'd expect a chocolate stout, with a light brown head. Cocoa aroma. Tastes of stout with cocoa powder. Not outrageously impressive. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Purchased as Boatswain Chocolate Stout from Trader Joes. Roasty coffee and cocoa aroma and flavor without any fruitiness. Sometimes it seemed nutty and dry, sometimes it seemed faintly sugary. Medium heavy body. Bitterness from the malt, cocoa powder only, seemingly - not much in the hops department. The main redeeming thing about this was the price - $2.49 for a bomber.

22 oz. bottle I picked up during my cross-country trip over the summer. Pours a black color with a thin light brown head. Pleasant aroma that is predominantly chocolate with notes of roasted malt, coffee and nuts. The flavor is watered down chocolate with coffee, roasted malt and a bit of tobacco. A bit overcarbonated in my opinion; I would like this better if it was smoother on the palate. Medium bodied.

This is actually pretty good. Especially for a $1.99 22oz at Trader Joes. Really reminiscent of Kona Pipeline Porter. Got that robust malt, strong, rough carbonation, and decent bitterness. It leaves you with a long black coffee and chocolate finish.

From a bottle poured a dark brown color with a small amount of head. Bitter sweet malty flavor with a quick finish.

Good lord, this is like a double aliased stout I bought at Trader Joes. Actually, not half bad. The aroma was fairly light and unremarkable but the flavor was nice with some coffee and chocolate. For the price, a pretty good choice.
