Dark brown pour with with medium sized tan head. Aroma of chocolate, cocoa and a hint of coffee. Taste of chocolate, hint of coffee and a tinge of hop bitterness. Higher carbonation. When I seen this was brewed by Minhas I didnt even want to try it but I didnt want to offend the person handing it to me. Simple beer but everything came together nice, really enjoyed this and without a doubt hands down their best beer. tgncc (3132) - Bellmore, New York, USA - AUG 5, 2012
Purchased from Trader Joes. labeled as Rhinelander Chocolate Stout. The aroma is chocolate, raisins/prunes, roast. The appearance is deep black, light tan head. The flavor is chcolate, raisins, brown sugar, slight gypsum. The finish is chocolate, pine, gypsum. Medium/thick in body, creamy mouthfeel. Pretty good. Factor in the $1.99 ffor a bomber price tag, and it’s a total winner. Pailhead (6540) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - AUG 11, 2012

Bottle: The aroma consists of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, vanilla, and a touch of roast. It pours a dark brown with some faint orange highlights and a small beige head. The flavor starts with a quick dose of sugary chocolate. The finish has some light roast and cream. It’s medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation.
22oz. bottle poured into a standard pint glass. This is the Rhinelander Chocolate Bunny Stout with the exact same label as pictured here. Pours a dark brown with a creamy, tan, two finger head that fades within a few minutes and leaves a slight lacing. Aroma is chocolate and malt with hints of coffee and caramel. Not faint, but not very strong either. Taste is cocoa and roasted coffee with hints of maple syrup and molasses. Finishes with a decent hoppy bitterness. Body is on the lighter-medium side with a slight creamy texture. Carbonation is a tad heavy and stings the tounge and mouth. Nice long finish of cocoa and hops. Overall a decent chocolate stout. Certainly nothing ground breaking, but far from bad. I only paid $2.99 for the 22oz at Keg Liquors in Clarksville, Indiana, so definitely worth the price. Bricks (1126) - Delaware, USA - OCT 14, 2012
Pours ultra black with an off-white head, looks delicious. Aroma of roasted malt, maybe some chocolate.. smells a bit thin. Tastes strongly of cocoa, maybe some syrup too - fairly sweet. Palate is quite bitter, but smooth just a little thin. Good stout.

Picked this up as Boatswains Chocolate Stout at Trader Joe’s.
Black pour with a thick tan head.
Aroma of roast malt and cocoa powder.
The flavor is not overly sweet, well balanced with the roast malts. Coffee and cocoa notes.
Good body. A little on the high side carbonation wise, but not a real fault just noting it. BeerFunGuy (875) - California, USA - JAN 30, 2013
This beer pours an amazingly rich deep black color with a chocolate milk colored head. It has a rich dark chocolate aroma. It has a slightly more bitter taste than most stouts but is still a good flavorful beer.

Chocolate syrup, coffee, and raisin nose, moderately strong. Black, medium beige head, good lacing. Medium body, but watery. Chocolate covered raisin flavor. Finishes with smoke and ash. woodychevy (874) - - MAR 5, 2014
Boatswain Chocolate Stout from TJ’s- as always their beer is great value but just average in every other way. This one seems to be marketed under many guises- one description read: "is there beer in my chocolate or chocolate in my beer". Super strong notes of chocolate on the nose and palate- some coffee and earthiness in there as well. Decently balanced with 66 IBU’s. Mouthfeel a bit thin for a stout- more porter like to me. Overall pretty drinkable- definitely an easier going stout than many I have had this winter. For 2.99 would buy again.

Picked up a bottle at Trader Joes. Pours a dark brown almost black with thin tan head that fades quickly. Pretty good chocolate aroma with a little sweet caramel hint. Taste is definitely dark chocolate with some coffee. Minimal bitterness at the end. Not overly sweet. A little to thin. Would like it to have some more body. Pretty good sweet stout but not amazing.
