Pours dark mahogany tinted brown with a 2 finger, chunky tan head that fades to a thick skim after a couple of minutes and leaves some sparse lacing from there. Aroma is toasted pecan, sweet grain, light roast and plain croutons. Flavor is sweet grain, light roast, a hint of smoke, dates, vanilla, some medicinal notes, dry wood and light herbal hops. Finishes with roast, sweet wheat bread, a hint of espresso, slightly medicinal. Palate is thin, a little oily and has a moderate, sharpe feeling carbonation. Not bad, reminds me of a schwarzbier. From a 12 oz bottle (courtesy of Headbanger) in a Shaker at 40°. Color is a deep dark brown with good carbonation and a thin tight off white head. Aroma is a sweet roasted scent with a hint of coffee in the back. Taste is sweet and smoky. Starting with a lighter medium body it goes down crisp. Finish is a roasted malt flavor with a good smoky taste and a coffee bitterness. After taste is dry and bland. This is a nice brew but it needs a little something. Pours a deep brown color with a very thin, white head that quickly fades away. Aroma is mostly a strong nutty scent, toasted malts are there behind it, light chocolate and caramel notes to round out the tasting. Flavor has an early nutty note but quickly fades to a very strong grainy, light metallic note and has a fairly strong note of vanilla at the very end. Light body and carbonation. The vanilla ending really does not mesh well with the nutty, roasted flavors of the beer. Overall just not the beer for me at all. bulldogops (2490) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 13, 2009
UPDATED: JUN 28, 2013 Third in the Minhas taster pack. Bottle. 5.5%. Pour is black as sin, with a bubbly tan head that disappears after pouring. Aroma is burnt, roast malts and almonds. Taste is entirely sweet malt, and extremely dry on the finish. Not impressed. Rerated in tall boy bottle under label Bad Hare Winterbock. Same shit, different pile. 12oz bottle 9/11/09 (RIP Flts 11 & 77)-Pours a dark brown with a small loose tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, and caramel. Taste of the same with a bit of vanilla and sugars. This light to medium bodied brew is not bad. Has potential.

I almost feel like I should be ashamed for liking this as much as I did, but as sweet as this is and as much as it may resemble a Coke, it still just tastes good to me. Cirrhosis (1283) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 7, 2009
Beer looks like a glass of coke. That was possibly one of the worst descriptions ever. Aroma is almond with some mystery sweet fruit witch I can’t place, so I shall call it dragon fruit for the sake of naming something. Beer feels flat watered down and thin. Almond vanilla possibly toffee can all be tasted in this mostly roasted malt flavored liquid. The sweet taste of this brew lingers a long time. Yet another beer I’ll never want to drink again. Bottled. Poured deep cola brown with a short, creamy cap of tan head. The aroma picked up artificially-sweetened caramel, chocolate, and molasses accented by some vanilla.. almost like a beer soda. The flavor found very sweet molasses and chocolate notes at the core, again with a little vanilla on the edges.. bitterness was very light and earthy.. finished sweet with a bit more of the molasses and vanilla. Lighter-bodied and overly sweet on the palate, but no serious flaws or infection noted.. maybe I had a "good" bottle of it. SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - MAY 22, 2009
In the bottle from HyVee sampler pack. Pours a very dark chestnut brown with a medium to large light beige head. This has a slightly soured aroma of spoiled milk. Very sour flavor. I think that there some bad batches of this floating around as this one is tart and unpleasant. The roasted maltiness that it should have is far masked by a strong sour thinness. Not a drainpour, but close. Powertrip (1000) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 9, 2009
Lots of roasted nuts and caramel on the nose. Very powerful and distinct. Strong brown colour with a red hue. Sweet malt coates the mouth. Layars of crushed walnuts mixed with couscous swim in the sweetness. There is a tangy background that borders on annoying but holds firm at adding another dimension to body. A nut-dominant finish with a cozy blanket of soft malt parades with length and strength. A very solid craft beer that completely surprised me. Found it in a bargain bin at a small liquor outlet.
