Lots of roasted nuts and caramel on the nose. Very powerful and distinct. Strong brown colour with a red hue. Sweet malt coates the mouth. Layars of crushed walnuts mixed with couscous swim in the sweetness. There is a tangy background that borders on annoying but holds firm at adding another dimension to body. A nut-dominant finish with a cozy blanket of soft malt parades with length and strength. A very solid craft beer that completely surprised me. Found it in a bargain bin at a small liquor outlet. Bottle poured aclear reddish brown with a small lasting creamy tan head. Aromas of carmel, molasses, fruittiness, toffee and light earthiness. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Pour form a 12 oz bottle. Clear deep amber brew - looks like a root beer when held up to the light. Aroma of raosted malt hinting at coffee or chocolate, but more generic. Faint hints of grassy hops or some other sour aroma in the background. Taste is sweet malt, molassess, dark fruits, roasted grains, a little grass and bitter at the finish though the end is still sweet. This is what I recall of bocks back when they were mainstream - Pabst Bock, Stroch Bock, etc. - sweet malts and roasted malts in an otherwise lagerish format. I enjoyed this.

Light brown body, tan head. Aroma is rich in malts, but slightly sweet. The flavor is initially heavy in malts with slight hops and a hint of coffee. This isn’t bad. For a "Bock", this does not leave my mouth with a dry taste, which is a plus. Wheatyweiss (29) - Wisconsin, USA - AUG 13, 2010
Poured from a twelve ounce bottle into a shaker pint.
Pours a nice deep ruddy auburn. Nice sized cream colored head leaves moderate lacing. Decent clarity from what I can see, the beer is a bit dark to judge clarity.
Aroma is of sweet grain up front. Typical bock aroma of dextrose and dark fruit. Roasted candy sugar and slight vanilla aroma. Lager yeast is barely discernible. Aroma finishes brown sugar and molasses. No apparent hop aroma.
Flavor is of deeply roasted grain and dark fruity molasses. Brown sugar, dates and prune like flavor. Slight bitterness which is most likely the roast and not hop. Fruity yeast edge add a little depth, but overall flavor is pretty one dimensional.
Mouthfeel is thin and slightly watery. Not thin in a crisp way, but a watery way. Carbonation is lacking and the creaminess I expected given the nice head on the beer was not apparent.
Drinkability would be better if the mouthfeel was a little better.
Overall an average beer, nothing special. Better than other sub standard bocks (Shiner, etc.), that I have had before.

12 oz bottle - Clear very dark amber with a good long-lasting head and swirls of lace. Looks pretty good. Taste begins with caramel malt, but has an over-riding prune/dried fruit moving through to the finish. There isn’t any discernible hop bittering, just the semi-sweet fruit thing against the malt. There is a little bloating/burping effect which makes this seem more filling than it is. Poured a dark amber-red color with a light tan head that faded very slowly. Aroma of sweet malts. Taste of roasted malts - slightly sweet with a mild hop finish. Nice palate - decent body. Overall, not bad of a bock if you like a slight sweetness and low hop bitterness.
