Bottle from Trader Joe’s. Floral fruity aroma. Caramalt, resin, pine, and some citrus notes in the flavour. Bitter and somewhat boozy finish. puboflyons (3438) - Allenstown, New Hampshire, USA - JUN 30, 2016
From the 650 ml. bottle "Trader Joe’s" batch. Orange amber pour with a quick lasting white head. The aroma brings out a musty cellar and perfume character at first with a kind of floral and burnt character. Medium body. The taste seems to have a metallic and odd malt character with little in the way of hops. It was just boring to me. pictoman (1146) - British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 8, 2016
Poured from 650mL bottle. Slightly hazy light orange with minimal off-white head. Cereal corn-like malt with very subtle hops, mild metallic notes. This is the budweiser of DIPAs. rayaron (1885) - Kfar Saba, ISRAEL - MAR 6, 2016
Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel, Tel Aviv. Thanks to who. Slightly hazy orange with white head. The aroma has lots of honey, alcoholic with notes of overripe fruits. Bitterish flavor with notes of overripe fruits and honey, alcoholic. Medium. Unpleasant. Derek881 (1272) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JAN 15, 2016
Purchased a bottle under the Boatswain label, and poured into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a cloudy, sediment deep amber-copper color with a good-sized foamy/creamy off-white head with average retention, cling, and lacing. Its aroma featured grainy and pine hops notes along with some barley and spice. The taste was mostly a bitter and sour grainy blend with some bread and earthy tones, and a sour alcohol finish. The body was mostly wet and full, with average carbonation and thickness, and a strong alcohol presence.

A disgusting IPA, with almost no hops to it. Good high alcohol content though. milewide (2260) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - DEC 14, 2015
22 ounce bomber from Traders Joe’s. Limited aroma. Leans sweet with more malt than hops. Wouldn’t buy again. TheBeerGod (6233) - Newport News, Virginia, USA - DEC 13, 2015
Bottle under the Boatswain Double IPA moniker. Aroma is fruity and floral with soft malt notes. Taste is very fruity with berry notes, light citrus, floral hops and sweet malt. Body is medium with a moderate, bubbly carbonation.
Finishes with more fruity notes, berries, light citrus, sweet malt, floral hops and a touch of caramel. jjuf1853 (1302) - Land O Lakes, Florida, USA - NOV 19, 2015
Bomber from Trader Joe’s. Very nice price for a double IPA so I gave it a try. Now I see why the price was so low. Not terrible, but nothing good to really point out either. Pours a mostly clear copper amber color with a medium sized off white head that quickly fades to a thin cap. Some loose sudsy lacing along the glass. The aroma is extremely muted for a "double IPA" with notes of caramel but no real hop presence. The flavor has some alcohol and sweetness with bitterness in the finish but nothing exciting going on. Oh well. At least I didn’t spend much on this venture. Radek Kliber (7369) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - NOV 19, 2015
Where and how: b. 650 ml as Boatswain Double IPA
Aroma medium intense, citrusy hop feel with plenty of red malt. Mild whiff of alcohol.
Top: medium, white with some lace and rings.
Base: hazy amber
Palate : medium, an OK impression.
Taste: hops muted, herbal zesty feel with mid-heft red malts. Not overly sweet mind so. It felt as strong red ale. Late residual hop feel with soft warming alcohol.
other notes decent.
