29 oct 3013, bottle. Brown. Nose is big bready malt, toasty as well. Med body and moderately fizzy. Toasty malt, more than mildly metallic. Not very good in that account. Has bitter finish.

22 oz bomber, disguised ast Boatwain HLV Ale. Fluffy-beady tan head on a clear, ruby-black pour. Average label. Slightly tangy chemical and diacetyl aroma. Tastes the same as it smells, except with a little toast. I was enthused because this was $2.49 for a bomber - makes for a low success target, the bottle is almost worth that for homebrewing - but I still came away disappointed. Trader Joe’s, Tallahassee. UPDATED: OCT 9, 2013 Another bad beer from Trader Joe?s. Weak head, pours black. Hints of chocolate, very little hops. Gets worse the longer you drink it. scarletfire65 (1491) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 20, 2013
Bomber from Trader Joe’s as Boatswain Heavy Lift Vessel. Mahogany brown with an average off white head. Aroma of raisins, sherry, root beer. Sweet and malty, caramel, a faint herbal note. Finishes somewhat dry, and just a bit watery. Listed as a Brown Ale, but more like an Old Ale.

Bottle. Pours brown with an off white head. Aroma of malt, some nutty notes, some roast and caramel. Flavor is sweet and malty with some roasted notes and some fruitiness. Medium body, average carbonation. yngwie (17168) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - AUG 8, 2013
Bottle, 22oz. As Boatswain HLV Ale. It pours a clear, brown body under a big, off-white head. The aroma has a touch of coffee grit, with roasted malts and some chocolate. Dry, medium-bodied and very soft on the carbonation. Chocolate, roasted malts, some hoppy bitterness and coffee grit in the flavor. Long, bland, roasted finish. Might need some food, certainly didn’t impress on its own. 130808
