Bottle from Champanes,
this ale had a brown pour with a trace of haze into the glass, the pour made a one to two finger faint off-white / light tan head that receded to an island of a cover and ring, it left spots and large fingers of lacing on the glass, the bottle had a thin ring of sediment on the bottom of the bottle,
this brown ale had aromas of toasted malt, nut, chocolate, faint caramel, malt and brown sugar sweetness, the aromas were not that big on the nose,
it had flavors of toasted malt, caramel, chocolate, a brown sugar like sweetness, some prune like dark fruit, a little mint from the hops(?),
the finish had toasted malt, sweetness and some hop bitterness, the sweetness was pretty strong,
the mouth feel was medium maybe a touch more, it was a little sticky on the lips and there was soft to average carbonation,
the nose on this beer was not that big, the flavor was bigger, the sweetness was pretty prominent and kept this beer from getting a better rating, a bigger nose and less sweetness would help this drink.
Boatswain Heavy Lifting Vessel, bought at Trader Joe’s. Poured into a pint glass cola brown with a beige head. Aroma is caramel, dark fruits and roasted malts. Not a bad beer, the price is reasonable. Would drink this again. tnkw01 (1753) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - MAY 5, 2017

Aroma is malts, fruit and relatively mild Minhas funk. The flavor is malts, fruit/berries, slightly grainy texture and a mix of tart/sour and slight Minhas funk in the finish. Carlisle (732) - Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 28, 2017
Bottle (Rhinelander Brewing Company). Pours hazy brown with tan head. Bread crust aroma with toffee notes. Bread crust with some sour plum notes followed by more sour dried fruit--primarily raisins--in the finish. A bit unusual.
