3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from a large bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a dark amber-copper color with a medium off-white foamy head that had low retention and cling, but good lacing. It featured a dark fruit and floral aroma with compliments of earthy and grainy hops, and touches of raisins and molasses. Its taste was lightly sweet and fruity with pleasant touches of dark fruit and raisin, and only a slight bitterness. Its body was somewhat what and a bit creamy, but a little bit on the thin side with lower carbonation. Definitely a quality beer, but a bit short of high levels.
Boatswain H.L.V. into pub glass from Trader Joe's. Appearance is lightly hazy reddish-brown with nice sparkle, cap of beige fizzy head with poor retention and trace lacing. Aroma is dominant yeasty dough, light fruit and candied sugar. Taste is yeasty dough (almost a little unfinished), light caramel. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with slick texture, lively carbonation (that dominates taste/palate experience) with dry mix of sweet and bitter finish. Overall, between a slightly unfinished aroma/taste and over-carbonation, this was not that pleasant to drink. downender (9004) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - DEC 11, 2017
Can from Trader Joes. Medium brown in colour, with a thin, off-white, head. Fairly raw alcohol, some sweetness, little else. Little in return for the high ABV. rumproasts (6052) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - OCT 18, 2017
can from Trader Joes. Brown with one finger head. Caramel, metal, raisin, and plenty of booze. Harsh, but very cheap.

Boatswain Heavy Lifting Vessel, bought at Trader Joe’s. Poured into a pint glass cola brown with a beige head. Aroma is caramel, dark fruits and roasted malts. Not a bad beer, the price is reasonable. Would drink this again. tnkw01 (1854) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - MAY 5, 2017

Bottle (Rhinelander Brewing Company). Pours hazy brown with tan head. Bread crust aroma with toffee notes. Bread crust with some sour plum notes followed by more sour dried fruit--primarily raisins--in the finish. A bit unusual.
