Not bad, but not good. Pours amber with a medium sized head. Yeasty nose with some sweet malt, mild hops. Bittersweet malt with astringent hop flavor, finishes with some bitterness. Derek881 (1272) - Denver, Colorado, USA - SEP 9, 2012
Poured from a large bottle into a narrow pint glass to drink. The beer had a slightly cloudy amber-orange color with some sediment and an average-sized foamy white head with some retention and decent cling and lacing. Its aroma featured a malty-sour caramel and earthy-citrus hops with a slight bit of grain. The taste was fairly sour and grainy with a slight citrus bitterness and a light bit of caramel and mash. The beer had a medium density body with low carbonation and a slight creamy body. JoeinDahlem (1503) - Berlin, GERMANY - AUG 31, 2012
A cartoon caricature of what I dislike about many American IPAs. Drunk as Rhinelander Boatswain. Can’t honestly remember where it came from. Trader Joe’s, maybe? Boozy, corny-malty aroma. Amber color with fading grayish head. Mildly fruity, sweet taste with a harsh bitterness. Thin and a bit hot. raphael (1239) - Portland, Oregon, USA - AUG 26, 2012
smell of cake but not sweet smell, fresh lumber. slightly hazy yellow amber w/ solid off-white head. seems more a pale ale than an IPA, given the malt/hop balance, but heavier in the mouth than most pales.. the bitterness stays atop the honeyed sweetness but just barely. clean finish

Bottle - After trying their regular IPA I was hoping this would have the punch necessary. They don’t get it and I am tired of talking about this. At least this one is a bit bitter.

$2 Bomber Bottle from Trader Joe’s. Pours orange, white head. No hop aroma. Taste is malt with skunk. Avoid. dnstone (3385) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - AUG 23, 2012
Copper in color with a decent sudsy white head. Cherry fruity, some banana and earthy hop notes in both aroma and taste. Taste finishes slightly soapy-bitter.
Bottle called Boatswain American IPA from Trader Joes jjkuck10 (66) - , Wisconsin, USA - AUG 23, 2012
Pour slightly hazy deep orange with light head. Aroma is citrus, bread dough and grass. Flavor starts sweet moving to a bitter and then sour note. Tine, watery texture and light body with moderate carbonation. Less hopps than expected. Sammy (12091) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 18, 2012
A light coloured yellow with carbonation bubbles and lots of foaming head. Very mild hop aroma. Some hops there but mostly a dry gummy beer. Minimal drinkability. dwyerpg (6055) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - AUG 17, 2012
Nothing really stood about this beer to me, other than it didn’t taste much like an IPA, maybe a pale ale. Had under the Underworld label.
