This great looking golden brown IPA has a very mild aroma. It has that typical hop bitterness but it doesn't go overboard and is well balanced with a malt smokiness. 650ml for $1.99 is a great deal

Mine is Thumper American IPA like in the picture, but no Minhas to be found. Rhinelander. An inexpensive bomber. As pretty much everyone says, this isn’t an especially good IPA. It certainly isn’t fiercely hopped. But that doesn’t mean it’s a bad beer, just a poor example of the style. Decent body. Fruity hop flavor, but low bitterness. Aftertaste is a bit like sucking on a piece of candy. hackobock (4029) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUL 9, 2013
Bottle on 061813. Clear amber with a creamy off-white head. Aroma has grain, caramel, alcohol and burnt plastic. Taste is light bitter and has some caramel malt and alcohol as well. Braudog (6716) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - JUL 7, 2013
Bottle at the brewery. A copper beer. Drinks with decent mouthfeel and a middle of the road citric acidity. Decent, average example of the APA style. Not great, but among the better examples I tried at Minhas. (#5120, 7/3/2013) bulldogops (2495) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 5, 2013
650ml bottle from Depot, under Bad Hare American IPA. 6.8%. Clear yellow pour with a bubbly white head. medium-strong carbonation. Bitter hops balanced by crisp and lingering sweetness. Aroma was also much stronger, sweet peach/apricot smell. Decent.

A very carbonated ipa. Has a sweet aftertaste and a bitter start. Smells fruity. Not something I would get again.

Nice 1/4 head that dissipates pronto. The aroma disappoints due to a lack of hop liveliness or presence. Overpowered by malt (caramel, quite a lot, and some crisp breadiness, sort of like a soft cake) and just a tad of sweet fruit hops, no citrus and faint resin in my perception, or merely the hops were octagenary. Some grassiness from dry hopping, but only when searching for it.
Taste is extremely sweet and doesn’t make me believe the 79 IBUs reported. Good medium body and, surpresively, a sweet yet balanced and long end that doesn’t cloy. It makes an acceptable Ale, specially for the prize, but would never call it an american IPA. Suttree (6392) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - JUN 30, 2013
I have been very impressed with the Mission Street beers from Trader Joe’s, so maybe we should talk about those instead. hershiser2 (3245) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - JUN 26, 2013
Bottled as "Boatswain American IPA". Picked up at Trader Joe’s, Charlottesville. Pours amber with a 2" beige head. Smells of generic hops and grapefruit. Tastes of bubblegum, malt, and pine. Ehh. chacobella (52) - Colorado, USA - JUN 24, 2013
Please help me, I can’t remember, but is this the way ipa’s used to taste before they became super hopped? No wonder I didn’t like them then. What seemed like a Trader Joe’s bargin turned out to be as plain as it’s label.
