On tap at the source. Big steady beige head atop of an opaque black body, stained glass red edges. Minty hops., big thick chocolate and specialty malts. True to style, well done. Icy bitter. A welcome surprise. Very nice. Big and rich, sugary and full. Solid offering! SrSilliGose (3331) - pouring bus, New Brunswick, CANADA - DEC 24, 2012
Tap. Bright rich bitter dark roast. Grapefruit and orangepeel hops. Dry. Nice body. Pretty good. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 25, 2012
GNBF. Poured clear, deep amber with a creamy beige head. The aroma picked up sweet, toasty caramel and nutty notes, with fresh, lightly-herbal accents. The flavor found chocolate, molasses, and toasty fruits at the core.. fresh, mostly piney bitterness around.. finished with nice balance, but with a few too many residual sugars. Medium-bodied with moderate-plus carbonation.. good feel and flow.. tasty brew. Skyview (6056) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - MAY 27, 2012
On draught during the Wisconsin Craft Beer Festival 2012 in Chilton, Wisconsin. Pours an opaque dark brown colored brew with a creamy off-white head that has some nice retention and lacing. Aroma of mostly floral hops, a hint of chocolate malt and some dark pitted fruits. Taste is medium bodied, average carbonation with flavors of chocolate malt, floral hops, a hint of northwoods pine and light herbs. Finish is semi-dry, slightly spicy and grassy hop bitterness, followed by some mild lingering bitterness. Everything I expect in a Black IPA.
