330ml bottle from Yamaya Nagahoribashi, Osaka (¥410):tiong (7745) - Espoo, FINLAND - OCT 21, 2017
This one was an excellent & highly enjoyable double IPA that grabbed my attention almost immediately thanks to the strong hops & resinous pine notes that greeted me opening the bottle. There was a lot going on with this one thanks to a combination of tropical fruits balancing well with sweeter malts & citrus. The beer was fuller than expected & quite varied too with good carbonation & the alcohol content was hidden well too. Excellent stuff from the start & a beer that I'm every glad I managed to find, it was definitely the best beer I managed to try on my trip to Japan & probably the best from the country that I've ever tried; a must try if you can find.
330ml bottle from Yamaoke, Kyoto. Pours dark reddish orange with a large foamy head. Aroma of strawberries, earthy notes, caramely malts, toffee, pine and resin. Taste is sweet, earthy and stuffy with loads of strawberries, some toffee, pine, caramel and resin. Finish is sweet, sticky and syrupy with some strawberires, caramely malts, bitter grassy hops and herbal notes. Unbalanced, too much strawberry notes here. Bottle at my parents. Reddish brown colour. Smooth copper hops and caramel malts. Pine, citrus, sweet, toffee. Very well-balanced. Medium to full body. Cracking brew. mrjez (713) - Osaka, JAPAN - SEP 22, 2016
Bottle. Hazy orange-copper pour with next to no head. Aroma of pine sap, honey, caramel, citrus, a little dirty, some brown-ale type chocolate, complex and better after about five minutes. Taste is sweet caramel, grapefruit, pine, and a late bitter push. Kinda full mouth yet low flavour density for a IIPA, if that makes sense, moderate bitterness, a tad chewy and tongue-coating. Feels muddled and old-school, was more exciting once upon a time. Oakes (19416) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 23, 2016
Amber w touch of haze . Has a lot of caramel malts, rich grapefruit hop, lots of alcohol. Old school, quite strong, just infinitely chewy.
