Not a bad hefeweizen on the whole despite starting poorly on the nose with some corn & basic malts kicking things off, thankfully the traditional wheat beer flavours weren't too far behind though & it turned out to be a pleasant & drinkable beer with some nice banana, clove & wheat flavours alongside some faint bubblegum towards the end. Whilst not the best of the style I tried in Japan, the beer was enjoyable enough to make it worth trying but I'm not sure if it's one that I'd go back to again.
I got a can of Billiken Beer, offered in a shop at Shin Osaka, next to a plastic mascot of the beer. I had no idea it was a Minoh. Alright flavour and aroma of cloves and bananas, in a good amount of cooked vegetables. Quite watery. The best part of th=is beer is the presentation and the idea of the mascot Billiken. Bottle at home. Smells of banana bread and orange. Fresh malt flavour with a hint of floral sweetness. Smooth. Well balanced. Tasty. invinoveritas (156) - Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - MAY 15, 2016
Bottle at bar. Coriander, clove, orange peel, banana - a spicy fruity bonanza on the nose, even though chilled. Rather more restrained on the palate, though crisp and refreshing. Good. BuckeyeBoy (8459) - Boise, Idaho, USA - MAR 6, 2016
On tap at Beer Belly. pours out a hazy straw topped with a white head. nose is stone fruit spice bread malts bubblegum and some sweetness. Taste is more of the fruit mix stone banana spice bread notes and a light sweetness.
