A hazy orange beer with a huge light brown head. The aroma is slightly acidic combined with notes of oranges, while the flavor is acidic with notes of grapefruit. A disappointment. joergen (29353) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - NOV 19, 2005

Hazy golden coloured with a huge off white head.
Aroma of mlats, grass, spices and hops.
Acidic flavour of malts, grass, spices and hops.
Cloudy dark straw colour. Slightly phenolic, somewhat piney Chinook hop nose. Sweet orange character...quite hoppy but surprisingly not all that bitter. Light, somewhat neutral malts back it up. Off-dry finish. Ughsmash (7510) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 29, 2005
Clear orange/amber pour with a solid 1/2" of off-white head. Nice intricate lacing as it went down. Aroma was of pine, grapefruit, and caramel. Flavor started out surprisingly sweet, with the Chinook hops and some alcohol following. Mouthfeel and finish were both sticky sweet. Nice floral hop presence on the finish. UPDATED: JUL 17, 2005 Rerate: Finished off a growler the next day and the beer is less sweet to me today and I picked up a bit of apple in the aroma and taste, it is better this time around but still I found it lacking all around

Growler from the tap on the day of the release:
Pours a clean amber hue with a fading frothy head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of bready and carmel malts, light Chinook hop, faint strawberry and grapefruit, earthy esters, cane sugar and noticeable phenols. The taste starts overly sweet for style with a fruity background. The bitterness is more acute as it warms but then so is the alcohol. The flavors never seem to pop like they did in the Hop Head. The feel is a tad sticky and oily with a warming finish. I hoped for more from this brew, alas it finished short and muddled. I guess I will wait for the next batch of Hop Head.
Bottle: Courtesy of BBB63. Sweet apricot aroma with a touch of pine. Pours a transparent golden orange with an insiginificant white head. Quick initial apricot sweetness with a balanced Chinook hop finish. Really doesn’t come across as big as 8% nor does the flavor remind me of an IIPA. Emil (6064) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - NOV 22, 2005
Bottle. Orange colour with a big tan head. Sweet floral hoppy, grape aroma and taste. Medium body and a sweet bitter dry finish. ThomasE (5174) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - NOV 21, 2005
Deep golden colour with a big foamy white head. Hoppy aroma with a fresh fruityness. Hoppy, not overly bitter flavor with a touch of lemon. Styles (2016) - Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA - NOV 8, 2005
Sample courtesy of BBB63. Pours golden amber color with white film for head. Very muted floral hop bitterness. Flavor has a decent kick up front, but fades to bland stale hop finish. tjthresh (1872) - Greenfield, Indiana, USA - AUG 4, 2005
UPDATED: AUG 23, 2005 What a tease. Who doesn’t love an IIPA? To look at this thing, I was not going to be disappointed. The the first whiff. Next to nothing. Then a drink. It tasted just like the rest of Mishawaka’s IPAs. Pretty much water thin. Imperial my ass.
