Dusseldorf-Style Altbier. Our Amber ale is a wonderful compromise between the light and refreshing, and dark and full-flavored beers available today. Our Amber is clean, and like our Blonde ale, exhibits a crisp, lager-like character. The firm bitterness is balanced by the sweet, caramel and nutty malt character provided by the generous use of Munich, Vienna, and Pilsner malts. 43 IBU

Appearance looks nice, but nothing jumps out as outstanding. A middle of the road red color. Not a lot of head. A very light taste for am amber and it for lack some depth. Not bad for a complimentary drink for sipping, but definitely not the main course. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap. Copper pour with a finger of head. Caramel, grass, toffee. Light body with slight sweetness not bad but not impressive

Bottle from Bev 4 Less: Caramel and a tea brown color with a fluffing of foamy head. Aroma comes up empty with no real stand out scents for me to mention. The flavor is the same with only a small caramel malt and honey. Very boring and bland and I had a hunch before I even bought it but I figured let me try it out anyways.

April 27th, 2012 - As I moved down Mission Brewerys tasting list from blonde to brunette, I detected a distinct decline in quality. This was paired with being denied water (bottled water was available at a price, though), as well as some more-than-tipsy folks bumping our table somewhat regularly in the pursuit of a high action shuffle board game. The environment may have conditioned my reaction to the Amber in front of me, but I am skeptical. Chocolate brown, and with a light head, it gives off an aroma of cashews and nuts, and dotted with a light maltiness. On the plus side, it features a robust hoppiness, giving it a flavorful edge that a lot of ambers lack. But the aftertaste is abrupt and short, and most of the rest of the flavor is dominated by pistachios, especially in the aftertaste where the hops retires, leaving the unappetizing solitude of off-tastes and nut flavors. Another excuse for the negative tasting may be at the Amber followed the much heavier and fuller flavored Hefeweizen. Whatever the case, this is, for a brief moment, an tasty amber, before swiftly collapsing into a heap of unpleasant flavor.

~Bready aroma with caramel and toffee, raisin and chocolate. ~Pours a murky amber color with lasting small brownish white head. ~Bready flavor with strong raisiny woody notes that I dont really care for in this beer. Light caramel, earthy hops. Not very well balanced. ~ Medium bodied with medium CO2, Lingering raisiny woody finish. ~ There s some kind of mat or a certain mixture of malts that I dont care for. Could use some more hops to balance it out.

Pours a dark copper amber with a large lasting creamy beige head. Aroma and taste is of toasted caramel malt and grains, some grass notes, mildly fruity with a bitter finish on the end. Palate is a medium body with good carbonation. The finish is the same as taste with a good sweet toasted caramel malt and nutty flavor and a bitter ending for balance. Nothing really standout but overall a good drinking brew.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, dark red pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, slight grass, hints of spice. Taste is a mix of red fruits, slight caramel, toffee, spicy yeast, finishing sweet, slightly dry. Eh.
