Kolsch-Style Ale. Our Blonde ale is a crisp and refreshing golden ale. Modeled after the kolsch-style ales from Cologne (Köln), Germany, our blonde ale has a clean, lager-like character, and a smooth, balanced bitterness. The authentic kolsch yeast strain provides a subtle fruitiness, which compliments the Liberty and Hallertau hops used for flavor and aroma. 20 IBU

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass served in Denver. I unfortunately forgot to stir up the yeast before I emptied, but will do a redo ASAP. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Pipes of Scotland. Slightly hazy golden with white head. Aroma and taste has lots of butter, some malt, Belgian yeast, wet grain and mild grass

bottle - Pours a hazy straw color and has a grainy malt aroma. It tastes of sweet, bready malt with a bit of hops. It’s light bodied and drinkable but bland to me. It’s not really my thing.

Bottle. Pours a dark orange, hazy with minimal head. Aroma of over ripe fruit, but not quite rotten with a side of vegetables. Not clean. Taste is initially peppery with some crackery malt but otherwise is pretty flat, undercarbonated, and not good.

Bottle at the hotel in San Diego. From Whole Foods. Clear pale golden beer with a small white head.malty bready aroma, artificial, onions, floral notes. Malty caramel flavor, citrus, artificial, plastic notes. Quite bad, wont finish this one.

Barreras (1689) - Diamond Bar, California, USA - APR 1, 2014
Pours a yellow color with a typical corn aroma. Taste is simple and easy drinking. No distinct aftertaste, too simple for my taste.

April 27th, 2012 - In retrospect, I probably should have started my sampler line of Mission Brewery’s brews with the Blonde, not the Bohemian Pilsener. But I was hasty, and excited to try a new brewery. But now that I’m actually writing the notes, the blond was not exactly pale and effete. From this baby-faced, light straw colored beer comes a nose sloshing with apple cider vinegar punch, and a puff of cinnamon. The spiciness isn’t baking spices, but its related, reminding me of mulled cider. The flavor is similarly distinguished by the cinnamon, and tastes like apple sauce or cider peppered with the stuff. The carbonation is aggressive like their Bohemian Pils, but cools its heels much quicker, revealing a touch of wheat and lemon in the aftertaste. It’s a flavor filled kolsch, and solid on the palate, but perhaps a little monotone and heavy on the apple notes.

Bottle at SlutFest 2011 on 04/23/2011. Clear pale golden body with a small white head. Sweet floral and light grassy aroma. Sweet grassy and floral hop flavor with a light malt background. Medium light body with moderately high carb.
