Bomber from BevMo. Very dark in color. Nose is roasted malts and a little milk sugar. A slight hint of barrel in the aroma. Almost a smokey quality to it. Roasty up front with a bit of smoke. Boozy, but smoother than the original. Body a little light for such a high abv beer, but the ease of it going down makes up for it being a touch thin. Vanilla, bourbon on the nose. Light chocolate and anise flavor too. Lightly bitter and sweet.

Nose has raisins, prunes and a very smooth fudge-like vanilla nose. Some light smoke and a bit of scorched wood.
Mouthfeel is syrupy. There is barely enough carbonation. I’m not complaining. Palate is dark stone fruit, stewed pears, prunes with nice bitter wood-smoky coffee. This is closer to a French roast. Continues blooming as the brew comes up to room temperature. I would suggest you slowly enjoy this one. The aroma becomes almost wine-like with the fruity sweetness of ripe fruit like figs and grapes becoming more prominent as it warms. The smokiness of a highland single malt also figures into the tasting, reinforced by the the boldly alcoholic palate. Some pipe tobacco ripe sweetness as well.
Finish is syrupy.

22oz bottle side by side with the regular version. Pours out black topped with a small tan head. nose is big bourbon barrel notes booze chocolate vanilla and plenty of the roast. Taste is more of the bourbon barrel goodness vanilla roast malts coffee and chocolate sweetness. Pours super dark, with a good light brown head. Aroma is malty with notes of coffee. Taste is rich and complex, notes of chocolate, malts, and a little licorice. A solid BA imperial. The wood and bourbon isn’t as prominent as I would like. Still, thumbs up.
