COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The ancient legends that abound the Russian Imperial Stout of yore are filled with tempestuous romance, sinful thievery, and scurvy, too. So highly regarded was this historic recipe, the Russian Kings tried to keep it all to themselves. They failed. Today we bring you our own dastardly dark version, with a rich and roasty aroma, notes of plum and port and a velvety texture so luscious it just might make a grown man weep.

Braudog (6675) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - FEB 29, 2016
Bottle. Stormy, turbulent and indeed dark. Huge light brown head. Fragrant with coffee and dark chocolate notes. This drinks with a bit of an ashy aspect, a boozy dark fruit twirl riding on top. (#6148, 2/29/2016)

Bottle shared. The beer is a near black with a khaki head of foam. The aroma has green, vegetal, strong roast. Some toffee and caramel. Slick mouthfeel, low carbonation.

Bottle, february 13th 2016. Black body, dark brown head. Great looking! Rich roasted aroma with dark chocolate and vanilla, taste is robust bitter coffee with plums and licorice, a little milky sweetness joins towards the finish, resulting in a great Russian I could enjoy all night. Pretty good stuff!

Luvystypotables (1922) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - FEB 17, 2016
A surprisingly subdued aroma of chocolate and coffee, pours an ebony color with a lasting tan well laced head. Taste of plums, sherry and a hint of coffee. A lighter body with a fruity alcohol finish.

tfredvik (1941) - Oslo, NORWAY - FEB 14, 2016
Black body with a tiny, short-lived head that disparages completely, save for a flimsy ring of bubbles along the walls of the glass. Sweet, malty and strong aroma of chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, dark roasted malt, chocolate, dark caramel and chocolate. Some sweet generic and slightly overripe fruits in the back. Strong malty flavour of chocolate initially, which transforms into coffee in the long-lasting finish. Also too much alcohol, and hints of dark berries. Moderate sweet and moderate bitter taste. Full body, creamy texture and soft carbonation, but the drinkability, or rather, the sip-ability is greatly reduces due to the sharp alcohol. All in all a lovely imperial stout, though.
[35.5 cl bottle, batch 472, enjoyed 10 months before BB date, from Vinmonopolet Ullevål, Oslo]

kajser27 (1785) - Zagreb, CROATIA - FEB 1, 2016
Pitch black colored, small non lasting tan head. Aroma is malty, chocolate creamy spread, burnt sugar, some coffee and roasted malt. Taste is medium+ sweet burnt sugar, chocolate, nuts, Nutella, roasted malt, bit ashy, medium roasty bitterness, dry finish, lasting aftertaste, well hidden alcohol. Strangely enough, I don’t get much dark fruit. Full bodied, soft carbonation, creamy. Easygoing for the style. (bottle, Bierhalle Deconinck, Vichte)

En god Impstout, men ikke helt der oppe slik at den får toppscore hos meg. Den burde ha litt mer humlebitterhet, og kanskje litt mer brentsmak.
