The ancient legends that abound the Russian Imperial Stout of yore are filled with tempestuous romance, sinful thievery, and scurvy, too. So highly regarded was this historic recipe, the Russian Kings tried to keep it all to themselves. They failed. Today we bring you our own dastardly dark version, with a rich and roasty aroma, notes of plum and port and a velvety texture so luscious it just might make a grown man weep.

Bottle from Bevmo. Ticks all the boxes. Sweet start, with bitter notes taking over for a long finish. Chocolate, vanilla, and liquorice notes.

Opaque black color with a brilliant head of tan foam. Complex aromas and flavors of rich plum, black licorice, semi-sweet dark cholocate, subtle molassesses, caramel, burnt sugar, and some light coffee roast. Pleasant alcohol warming after the finish.

I absolutely loved this. Looks great, has a thick black color with dark tan head. The flavor is chewy and thick, yet it doesnt make you feel fat. I could drink this all the time. A home run.

Chocolate aroma with a very nice port taste. Label is very true to actual taste. Does not pour much of a head at all. Dry finish. Fantastic brew!

Although the head was somewhat lacking, the taste made up for it! There was a perfect balance of bitter, sweet, and smooth taste.

This is the only imperial stout that can come close to competing with the Speedway Stout from Alesmith. Deep rich color with a toasted, nutty, malty finish.

12 oz bottle. Pours deep black, with a long-lasting tan head that leaves good lacing. Nose is dark roast malt and chocolate. Taste is dark roast malt and dark fruit, with a long finish and slightly oily mouthfeel. Hides the alcohol well. A very good Imperial Stout.
