The ancient legends that abound the Russian Imperial Stout of yore are filled with tempestuous romance, sinful thievery, and scurvy, too. So highly regarded was this historic recipe, the Russian Kings tried to keep it all to themselves. They failed. Today we bring you our own dastardly dark version, with a rich and roasty aroma, notes of plum and port and a velvety texture so luscious it just might make a grown man weep.

Bomber from Discount. Pours an opaque black with a chocolate milk head. Nice sticky lacing. Aroma has baker’s chocolate, licorice and chocolate liqueur. Taste is of sweet brown sugar, expresso, bittersweet chocolate and lactose. Slightly rough and hints of alcohol. Nice combination of bitter and sweet after beginning more like a sweet stout. Solid base. Finishes with some length, and very bittersweet. A very, very nice roasty chocolatey stout with a lot of strength.

Puur zwart bier, olie-achtige textuur.

Bottle. Dark and strong. Can see why they say port, but I’m getting pumpernickel too. A little sticky, a little sweet, but mostly a good robust stout.

Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer. Nikły, palony aromat. Trochę wodniste, mocno palone, z lekką czekoladą i wyraźnym alkoholem. Nuda.

Czarne, nieprzejrzyste. Aromat typowy, bardzo przyjemny. W smaku dominuje gorzka czekolada, z nieco zbyt ciężką ściągającą goryczką na końcu - niestety psuje to trochę całość i obniża pijalność. Ogólnie - całkiem ok, ale czterech liter nie urywa.
